Look what I found in the greenhouse, innocently feasting on my newly sprouting Tilia Cordata (littleleaf linden). My first instinct was to immediately remove and discard it outside the fence for the birds to find. I just can't stand looking at caterpillars! Luckily, I was able to calm myself. Enough to do a little research on it. Well, what do you know... it's the caterpillar of a red-spotted purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis). picture source Come to think of it, I did see one or two ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #321
It’s the end of week 2 of telecommuting and/or remote learning for New Jersey residents, the end of which is unpredictable. Like all responsible people everywhere, my family and I have been practicing social distancing since the day it was first recommended and staying home as much as possible. Apart from a brief visit to a local park, where we walked around for less than 10 minutes just to observe what flowers were blooming in this early spring, and a dash to the store looking for toilet ... continue reading...

At this point, I’m resorting to using those little alcohol pads if needed. It may all sound silly, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. And the point is not ... continue reading...

In the meantime, my daughter's senior trip to Florida is in a couple of weeks, and just a few days ago they reported 2 brand-new cases there. I want to tell her not to go, but she would probably tell me I'm ... continue reading...
