Happy Fall, y'all! The calendar may say it's fall, but the plants in my garden don't seem to notice. Especially this Thai basil. Mocking Mother Nature, it seems to grow even bigger and more vigorous at the mention of fall. How is that possible? The other basils are not as robust. The lemon and holy basils have mostly gone to seed, while the Genovese basil is close to being a goner altogether. I guess it proves that not all basils are created equal. My first day back to work was rough. Physically and emotionally. My body was conditioned to take it slow during the stay-at-home period, so the normal rushed activities typical of my working mornings resulted in, what I would imagine, moments of hot flashes. My beloved furbaby Skye celebrated her 12th birthday last week. My daughter and I made her a canine cake. Which was really just meatloaf, baked in a mini cake pan, and frosted with cheesy mashed potatoes. She loved it! As you can see in the photo there, she couldn't wait to get a bite. She was supposed to sample the little slice, which I kept pointing out to her, but she went for the big piece aka the entire cake instead. Lol! Good thing we added chopped veggies in the cake.
