Blueberries are plentiful right now, and here in New Jersey, they’re cheap. That’s just dandy for me since I love blueberries. Especially in scones. American scones. So, it’s pronounced "skown" (rhymes with bone) rather than "skon" (rhymes with gone). At home, I sometimes like to say "skon" and wait for heads to turn in my direction, which will predictably be followed with an eye roll. ?? Here's a meal that's popular with all age groups. Both kids and adults are guaranteed to love this. Honestly, who can resist a good grilled cheese and tomato soup? Even the most basic grilled cheeses will find a taker or two. But these ones here have provolone and turkey and are spiked with homemade pesto made with freshly harvested homegrown basil. Crepes or pancakes? Pancakes or crepes? I couldn’t decide so I made both. Luckily, I only needed to make one kind of topping. Both crepes and pancakes are superb with strawberry sauce. Come Sunday, though, I may have to add blueberry sauce to the mix so we can have a proper red, white, and blue day. Summer is officially here and the deck/patio is officially open. Alfresco dining is starting to be the norm around here. Somehow food tastes much better eaten outdoors, even if it's just simple sandwiches and salad. And ever since the husband put up the outdoor string lights we tend to linger outside a little longer.
