So, the elderflower champagne experiment was a bust, unfortunately. And I spent SO. MUCH. TIME! I trimmed off every little stem from the blossoms since the green parts are reportedly toxic. That alone took me a couple of hours! Pretty much my whole afternoon was spent making the elderflower concoction. It was supposed to ferment into a fizzy "champagne" by day 4. But by day 2, the whole thing had turned gloopy. No mold or anything like that, and it smelled pretty good, but I'm pretty sure ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #437
School is out, finally! Hurray, hurray! So now, what?! The first day I don’t have to go to work and I’m not sure what to do. Too many choices! I’ve never been a decisive decider. Sleep. That’s the first order of business. Everything will become clearer after a good, sound sleep. So I’m just going to tell myself to go back to bed now to extend my sleep. Or maybe take a lengthy siesta later. That sounds too luxurious, seriously. Pretty sure it violates some kind of rules. Maybe I need to go ... continue reading...

Gosh, it got so hot this week! I can’t stand the heat, guys! So I got out of the kitchen. We’re subsisting on salads and cold sandwiches. Don't feel sorry for us. We're eating well, truly. Yesterday's salad looked like this. Pasta salad for the win! With minimal cooking and prep other than boiling the pasta and slicing the vegetables, pasta salad remains one of my family's favorite salads. What about you, friends? What are you cooking and eating when the weather is warm? Now, take a look ... continue reading...
Fiesta Friday #434

There are a few light home improvement and gardening projects that I can handle on my own. I'm leaving the heavy-duty ones to the menfolk, i.e., the husband and the son. Somewhere on that list is also a couple of cooking and baking projects. More than a couple, actually. But I need to make sure I don't go overboard like I normally do. Above all, I need to stay organized. I ... continue reading...
