Fiesta Friday #412

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! Is anybody doing the Seven Fishes tonight? I’m exceedingly intrigued by this feast. And many times I suggested we give it a try. But the husband always gave me a look in response. No words, just a look. You know that look, don’t you? A look that says ENOUGH. No Seven Fishes! Sigh... I may slip these Seafood-Stuffed Shells into our non-fish repertoire tonight though, seeing that when I made them a while back, they were pretty well-received. And maybe Cioppino ... continue reading...

I’m in trouble. It’s just about a week away from Christmas and I haven’t finalized my menu. Unlike Thanksgiving, which the family has firmly decided as the best meal of the year and therefore pretty much set in stone, our Christmas menu keeps changing year after year. Sometimes we do ham, sometimes prime rib, sometimes turkey... see, all over the place. I’d like to, once and for all, come up with a menu worthy of the occasion that everybody is happy with. So I can just repeat it annually. At ... continue reading...

I forgot to share with you what I made for Hanukkah. As always, we like to commemorate the holiday by serving fried foods. The fried food of choice these past few years has been sufganiyot. I make my sufganiyot the easy way, using my basic beignet dough, and filling them with whatever jam or jelly I have on hand. This time around I filled them with raspberry jam. Sometimes I even fill them with Nutella. All versions are delicious! All fried foods basically are delicious, lol. Once in a ... continue reading...

Who says vegetables can't be pretty? Just look at these. I call them Tricolored Cauliflowers since they come in 3 different colors - green, purple, and orange. I guess technically they're flowers and flowers are generally thought to be pretty. But you don't normally envision cauliflowers and broccoli when you think of flowers, do you?! I had to grab them when I saw them at the store, so now I'm the proud owner of not one, but four cauliflowers! I bought two of the orange ones because they're ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #408

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Day After Thanksgiving! That’s my Thanksgiving dinner up there ↑. As always, I enjoyed the side dishes more than the turkey, though this year's turkey was particularly delicious. Most likely because my family did wake up early to help me prepare for the feast this time. The daughter's gravy was dee-lee-shish! Let's hope for a repeat, and maybe a three-peat, fingers crossed. Now... onto Black Friday... Don’t buy too many things! That’s my new ... continue reading...
