Fiesta Friday #426

Easter is two weeks away, and I feel the need to quicken my steps... or lengthen my strides... or both! Springtime is a busy time for a gardener (that's me). Because now there are things to do in and out of the house. Consequently, this blog is somewhat neglected. I intend to make up for it during my Easter break. There are so many recipes that I'd like to share with you. Like this one below. Can you guess what these are? Hint: They're NOT the Easter Grapes. By the time the Easter break ... continue reading...

Happy Friday, friends! Isn’t it revealing that the moment we decide to go maskless, all of a sudden people start getting sick? A number of students and staff members at my school have been sick this past week. And it’s not necessarily due to Covid, either. There are still the common cold, the flu, strep throat, and even seasonal allergies out there. Though if I had to make a choice, I would pick pastrami over corned beef. But as always, pastrami usually ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #423

Hi, Fiesta Friends! Remember Daylight Saving Time starts this very Sunday, for those of you who live in the US. We're losing an hour of sleep, hey-ho! But! We're also gaining an hour's worth of natural light for food photography. And for that, I'd say hurray! I've been cursing (only in my head) the lack of light each time I photograph my dinner. By the time I come home from work, I only have a couple of hours to work with before the shadows of the night creep in. Natural light makes a huge ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #422

As the weather is finally slowly warming up, I try to spend more time outdoors, visiting my plant pets mostly. Occasionally I pick up the rake and do a little clean-up here and there. Even less than occasionally, I pick up the lopers to snip wayward branches and stuff. Yesterday, on one of those less-than-occasionally moments, as I was lopping eye-level branches threatening to poke you blind, I looked up and noticed a little nest up on the pear tree. Then another one on the apple ... continue reading...
