Grilling season is upon us, and I was going to kick it off in the best way possible. With some grilled corn, of course. I went a little crazy and bought a couple of dozen ears of corn. Hey, they're plentiful and cheap around this time! I figured if I grill half a dozen every day for the 4-day Memorial Day weekend, I would need two dozen total. I'm so smart! Then the husband reminded me that we'd be going away for the weekend. Omigosh! I'm not so smart after all. The grilled corn plan will ... continue reading...

Everything is coming up roses! Literally! There's an area in my backyard that used to be my pride and joy. The Rose Garden aka The Fragrant Garden, was what I used to call it. It's right next to the fence that borders the neighbor's bamboo grove. After battling the marauding bamboo for so many years, rather unsuccessfully, I sort of gave up on it. I haven't even so much as pulled a weed, let alone watered or fertilized the area. Well, what do you know? Roses like to be left alone, I guess. ... continue reading...

Omigosh, you guys! I was strolling in my backyard last night (well, not when it was dark but at dusk) just before it rained, and I spied that my Pink Lemonade blueberry plants are finally producing fruits! Woohoo! There aren't a lot of berries since the plants are still small, but just imagine, in a few years, I may be harvesting bowlfuls of pink blueberries. Imagine this scene but with berries that are pink in color! Wouldn't that be amazing?! And then, of course, I will have to make ... continue reading...

Cinco de Mayo can't come soon enough!! I'm ready for my passion fruit margarita and guacamole en molcajete. Wish I had a molcajete. I swear guacamole tastes better when made fresh in a molcajete. I went to the city last weekend looking for a molcajete and came back empty-handed. So sad… I guess I'll have to rely once again on Amazon. Or I can just go to Plaza Azteca and enjoy their excellent guacamole as much as I want! I haven't done much cooking or baking or anything in the kitchen, ... continue reading...

It does seem to be gaining momentum or getting more popular. I've been encountering more and more articles advocating it. In principle, I agree with the idea of rewilding. In practice, however, it's a little unnerving to do it. If anything, I’m guilty of doing the opposite - I’m constantly “de-wilding” or reclaiming the ... continue reading...
