Fiesta Friday #285

OMG can it get any hotter than this?! Apparently it can! It’ll get even hotter tomorrow, with temperatures reaching triple digits!

There goes my plan to bake a zucchini quiche. I’m not turning the oven on when it’s that hot. Already the air conditioner is working nonstop. I don’t want it to break. That’ll be deadly for me! I can’t stand the heat. That’s why I get out of the kitchen, haha.

Besides, I can definitely live on smoothies for a while.

And a bowl of cherries. Definitely.

Life is just a bowl of cherries | FiestaFriday.net

“Life is just a bowl of cherries.” Who said that? And what does it mean? And why not Life is just a basket of melons. Or better yet, Life is just a plate of pineapple. Such profound thoughts in my head.

Fabulous Fiesta Friday Links from last week.

New York Chicken Spiedies from Mollie @ Frugal Hausfrau

“A tasty vinaigrette marinade, moist, perfectly grilled chicken, a bun and so much flavor! This recipe would work just as well as an every-day dish or for when you have guests and just let everyone tuck in!” — Petra

“Skewered delights with an enticing garlic lemon vinaigrette marinade.” — Diann

Cod Parmesan with Zucchini Noodles from Jennifer @ Mommy Evolution

“I’ve been hankering for more seafood, and along with the fine-sliced zucchini, this would fill the bill.” — Diann

Red Cabbage Juice 3 Ways from Monika @ Everyday Healthy Recipes

“This should help me cool down and stay hydrated in this heat. And it’s healthy and refreshing. Perfect!” — Angie

Vada Pav Chutney Powder from Vanitha @ Curry & Vanilla

“An utterly delicious and aromatic-sounding spice mix. There isn’t anything I don’t like. It is nutty, it has seeds, delicious spices and some heat! I can’t wait to try this!” — Petra

Thank you for featuring my juice recipes! I wish I could say temperatures were ridiculously high here in the UK as well. Today it’s raining and I am wearing a sweater. So I am very jealous of your hot weather. Enjoy it while you can!

I’m jealous of your sweater weather! Heat is so much harder to deal with than cold, IMO. You can put on layers of clothing when it’s cold, but you can’t really peel off any beyond what’s appropriate when it’s hot. Unless you don’t mind being naked ? I’m so into juices and smoothies right now, so your recipe comes at the right time.

Horrid weather. This is why I didn’t follow the family to swampy hot Florida, in addition to the prices for enough property to have free-range chickens being a separate turn-off. Next year, I’ll have the central A/C. I do have a dish I want to contribute this week (should it turn out), but I’m waiting until nightfall to cook it. Right now, I’m wanting that very-chilled red cabbage juice! PS, it was fun co-hosting last week’s selections with Petra.

It’s cooled down a lot by today and if it wasn’t raining it’d be perfect. The good thing is now I can turn on the stove or oven as long as I want, yay!

I wouldn’t cook either and absolutely no oven! I just saw the weather forecast for the USA and it looks hot hot hot! There is apparently a UK heatwave coming but at the moment it is a bit cool.
    Stay cool! xx

It’s a lot cooler today, thankfully. But it’s rained the whole day, drat. I had to carry an umbrella to pick cucumbers from the garden ? They grow so fast in the rain, doubling their size in just 2 days!

Hi guys, and thanks for featuring the Spiedies! I’m not doing much cooking, either; my Moravian Cinnamon Flop Cake was made the week before last! Yesterday was so awful, but last night the temp dropped a bit and today a thunderstorm, so some relief. Until the sun came out!

I so want your smoothies, Angie and I never knew I could crave cabbage juice, but I do now!!

Thank goodness the heatwave is over! But now we have to contend with the rain. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. The storm actually knocked out power in our neighborhood yesterday and we had no power the whole night! Seriously this weather is nuts. How bout we swap? I give you smoothies, and you gimme flop cake and spedies ??
