Fiesta Friday #169

Just in case you’re wondering if my kitchen is being put to good use, let me offer you a visual evidence.

how-to-make-kale-chips

See?! I do use my oven. Very often. To make me lots and lots of kale chips. And not just for me. The whole family loves these! We go through them like water.

Actually, some people here don’t drink water. So for him, he goes through these chips like soda. I guess the chips counter the health risks of the soda?? I can only hope.

So anyway, kale chips are so easy to make.

Wash, dry, then tear kale leaves into pieces, toss with just a smidgen of olive oil, then place on parchment-lined baking sheet, preferably without touching each other, sprinkle some salt or spices and bake in 300°F oven for 10 minutes, flip them, and bake for another 10 minutes. Done!

↑ RECIPE ↑

See, a one-sentence recipe. All recipes should be like this, don’t you think?!

In other news, my lilac is in bloom.

reblooming-lilac-josee

Whenever I see something like this in my garden, I say to myself… Life is pretty good.

Wish I could teleport the fragrance into your garden…

Thanks, Monika! They’re so easy and so good! Don’t even know why I used to buy kale chips. You can sprinkle them with spices, too, but we like them plain with a little bit of salt. So good!!

Oh now that’s too bad, Lina ? But you probably can use similar leaves, like collard greens and mustard. Different flavors but I’m sure would be as good. Maybe we should experiment ?

No, it’s really easy, seriously. The key is to make sure you start with dry leaves (salad spinner and paper towels) and not too much oil, low temp oven. Give it a try! Happy FF, Laura! ?

I’ve only had Kale chips once but pretty darn tasty! Yours look even more amazing – and that lilac – I can smell it from here! Now features! Wow! Beautiful as always. Look at that puffed rice salad – all those deep oranges and yellows keep catching my eye. Also, starting and and ending with dessert wasn’t fair! I’ve already been steadily working my way through some cookies and now I want both the margarita bars and the cinnamon and orange bread. Umm, the tacos look good too as do all 74(!!!!!!!!!!!) entries for this week.

Hope everyone is well? Can’t believe it’s almost May – in fact in an hour and a half it will be here in Ireland! Crazy!

You should try making your own kale chips, Maggie. Really is quite easy and so delicious. Not as delicious as potato chips, but hey, they’re much healthier ? I myself can’t believe it’s May already! Definitely crazy. Before you know it, it’ll be Christmas again, lol ?
