Fiesta Friday #90

What did you say? What?! W-H-A-T?!

I can’t hear you!

I think I’m certifiably deaf.

Not making fun of a true life disability here, but after living with industrial grade dehumidifiers turned on full blast for the past 72 hours, I think my eardrums are blown out!

So, that’s what’s happening right now in my life, folks.

The roofers came to do an emergency temporary fix. Of course when I agreed to it, I had no idea what it entailed.

There are now 3 gaping holes on the ceiling of my bathroom! But hey, at least the room is dehumidified!

And guess what? They won’t be fixed until the insurance claim is approved. And guess what? It takes a month to get the claim processed, give or take. And guess what? That give or take is very concerning.

What if I give more than I take? You know what I mean?

Now what? Your guess is as good as mine. We’ll just have to wait this one out.

I think that’s enough complaining for now. There are worse things. Like… apple picking season is well on its way and I haven’t gone picking! Tsk tsk tsk…

But there’s always Fiesta Friday! Yay! This time we’re partying with Effie @ Food Daydreaming and Lindy @ Lindy Mechefske. It’s Lindy’s first time, yay! Are you all as excited as I am? Well, then, let’s party already!

But first we look at these awesome posts from last week:

Eating The Forbidden Fruit: Fabulous Apple Recipes from Naina @ Spice in the City

“I have to say I’m partial to apples. It’s my favorite fruit for cooking. And Naina gives you 8 fabulous recipes in one post! Gotta love that! Thanks for the inspiration, Naina!” — Angie

New Orleans Barbecue Shrimps from Juju @ cookingwithauntjuju

“I think the winner is Juju with the delicious recipe of New Orleans Shrimps. I’ve never heard of such recipe before, and when I saw Juju’s photos, the only wish was to tuck into that plate with shrimps! 😀 She provided two recipes, and I can’t choose which to try first. Both sound amazing. I’m sure it’s gonna be one of the fav dishes among shrimps-lovers like me.” — Mila

Cilantro-Orange-Sriracha Chicken from Anjana @ At The Corner of Happy and Harried

“From the get-go, this dish had my mouth watering. The bright colors and citrus flavors in this dish are so inviting. As I read further along, I loved how Anjana brought us into her thought process as she cooked. And, most importantly, the cilantro yogurt sauce provides the perfect balance of flavors. Every aspect of this dish was well thought out, and it turned out beautifully.” — Kaila

Beef Rendang from Petra @ Food Eat Love

“Petra posted the recipe of mouth-watering beef ragu, which is awesome for autumn season! The recipe contains so many aromatic and tasty ingredients (like lemongrass, turmeric, chilli, cinnamon and many more), that you want to go to your kitchen and immediately start cooking!” — Mila

I hope your roof is fixed up soon! That give or take does sound very concerning, but maybe the dehumidifiers don’t have to run that whole time?! At least, your ears will be a bit happier. Thanks for hosting FF as always! <3

It never fails to amaze me that when we solve one problem, life throws another one at us. That’s life I guess. There is rarely a dull moment or a moment when we can say : “finally everything is ok”. Does that sound like I am complaining? Anyways..that’s why we need blogging and fiestas! Happy FF!

You said it, Su! I was just thinking the same thing! I was hoping that last week was a relaxing week and I could go apple picking, etc., but things just have to wait. I’m not so good at waiting, haha…

I don’t have kaffir lime leaves and I don’t think I’ll ever find one. And I am not sure if it will make difference to the dish if I don’t use it. But most definitely, I am going to give it a try – no matter what. 😀

Definitely – we went a couple weeks ago (when my little one was a week old!) and it was great, a lovely day and my older son had such a good time. He has since been again with his preschool so we have a lot of apples, even trying my best to use them in almost everything!

What a screw-up in your bathroom. It’s sadly reassuring because I thought that kind of thing only happened in Canada! ??? I’m glad to know it’s somewhat more universal and I hope it all gets sort sooner rather than later.
And I hope you get to the apple picking before the season is over. It snowed here today…
