Fiesta Friday #417

White strawberries... What do you think? They look wrong, right? For years I've resisted buying these strawberries, because who would want to eat white strawberries... They look downright wrong to me... Like they're unripe... Most likely sour... So I thought. Until I bit into one. Guess what?! They're actually sweeter than their luscious-looking red counterparts. Who would have thought? It goes to show you need to be open-minded when it comes to anything new or unusual. I'm not sure how new ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #416

Omigosh! Can it get any colder than this?! It's 20 degrees out there, and with the wind and rain, it really feels like 10. January is always such a miserable month, weather-wise. Luckily, we're almost at the end of it. And then, as soon as that happens, the Lunar New Year will be here. Fiesta Friday#414

I didn’t make any. I didn't buy any. But I didn't want to tempt fate, either. So I offered my family the next best thing. Bagels. I always have bagels in the house. Bagels are circular in shape, just like donuts, so I figured they'd make a great substitute. I served them traditionally, with schmear and lox, and ... continue reading...

Fiesta Friday #413

Today is the last day of the year 2021. I'm glad. It's been a tough year. For many people around the world. My own situation has not been too difficult aside from inconveniences such as canceled trips or the inability to see and get together with friends and relatives. Nevertheless, I'm ready for the new year. I'm hoping for an improved situation for all citizens of the world, in all aspects affecting their lives. I'm celebrating the end of the year by doing the kind of "cooking" I like best, ... continue reading...
