Fiesta Friday #360

Hello, Fiesta Friends! Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! May your socially-distanced holidays be filled with joy and hope. And may you and your family continue to be safe and healthy.

Also, world peace! I just want to say that 😄

Last year around this time I was at Disneyland, enjoying Pineapple Dole Whip and Candy Cane Beignets. Sigh…

Candy Cane Beignets @Disneyland | FiestaFriday.net

There will be no traveling for me this Christmas. I’m staying put. And I’m grounding everyone, too. Partying with friends for the kids or colleagues for the husband is not allowed. So far nobody has complained. They’ve been helping me bake cookies instead. There are so many cookies!!

What about you, what activities do you do this time around, with the pandemic still going on?

It’s Now Time For Features

How To Make Star Bread

“For those of you who are thinking of making a star bread (I’m one), this how-to makes it look easy. Plus, the recipe uses whole wheat, and I need more whole-wheat recipes!” — Angie

Christmas Tree Meringue Cookies

“What’s one of the things I couldn’t stop eating? Meringue cookies! These cookies look so festive and delicious!” — Jhuls

One-Pot Italian Sausage, Kale & Bean Soup

“Perfect for the new year! Just use lentils or black-eyed peas and you got yourself a lucky New Year soup!” — Angie

DIY Fabric Basket

“I love this idea for a DIY fabric basket. This is something useful, especially when organizing stuff at home. Amazing tutorial, too!” — Jhuls

This time last year I was readying myself to spend Christmas a couple hours with some friends down back in Connecticut, with very few cares in the world. This year another more local friend and I were going to do the Feast of the Seven Fishes together for the 24th, but this got cancelled due to viral concerns. This year, thus, it is me and my cat. Do have a good holiday!

We did, finally, a seven fishes dinner last night. Well, more like 4 fishes, or 5 if you count the dip I made last minute from leftover crab stuffing. Surprisingly, it was delish and well-liked by everyone. Will try to write down and share the successful recipes, hopefully soonish. Have a wonderful Christmas, even with just your cat 😄

When my two daughters were little, my husband had to travel for work to San Diego for the whoke month of December, so we all went; I would home school the girls, then we were off to Marineland, San Diego Zoo, etc. We all drove to Disneyland for Christmas, and it was magical … this year, the girls are both working abroad and with Covid19 restrictions, nobody could travel, so we had a virtual Christmas breakfast in Canada /lunch in France/dinner in Japan, last Sunday. Today is just my husband, our dog and me. Merry Christmas Angie and Jhuls, and thank you for hosting this Christmas party!

Merry Christmas to you, too, Irene. Everything is different this year. We just had a FaceTime Christmas with our extended family, comparing our trees and dinners, etc. Last year we were ALL together; that was so much fun! Hopefully things will go back to normal by next Christmas.

Merry Christmas Angie and the community. I love the features and can’t wait to try the basket making and step away from all the cooking for a bit 🙂

Thanks, Zeba! Happy holidays to you, too! Those fabric baskets are pretty cool. Btw, Zeba, I’ve collected enough Thai basil seeds to share with you. If you give me your address, I can send some to you. Just say the word.

    hi Angie
This year is so different in every sense! A quiet and chilled out Christmas here not quite like last year but it seems that 2021 is bringing hope!
The Pineapple Dole Whip looks very good! Chilli pineapple is one of my best selling products and I always send you a thought when chopping pineapple 🙂

Aaw… Petra… that’s so sweet that you think of me every time you cut a pineapple. I hope you had fabulous Christmas, albeit quiet. And wishing you the happiest of New Years! And may 2021 brings you the most profitable business. You need to trademark that Chilli Pineapple!
