Fiesta Friday #256

Oh em gee… is Christmas really over? Really, really?

Here I am still listening to the *NSYNC Christmas album, drinking mulled wine round the clock, and binge-watching Netflix.

I didn’t even go to the grocery store, not even once. Everybody is starting to look at the leftover ham and prime rib with diminishing excitement, so I will probably need to get out of my robe eventually and put on some decent going out clothes and buy fresh food.

And I should start thinking about what to cook for the New Year’s celebration. Though I’ve been thinking of putting together a nice charcuterie board and call it a day. Minimal cooking involved (other than making rillettes and pâté maybe) but will easily satisfy everybody.

What d’ya think? What are you making for the New Year?

Maybe these can give you ideas:

Chocolate Ball Recipe from Alina & Dmitry @ Cooking Journey

“A truly creative wintertime dessert, bound to charm anyone served this.” — Diann

“What a masterpiece! So much fun, too!” — Angie

Orange Cranberry Star Bread from Jess @ Cooking Is My Sport

“This is one of the best bread recipes I have seen and it is so pretty! I love the flavors, too – orange and cranberry – must be so yum!!” — Jhuls

Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pull-Apart Bread from Meaghan @ 4 Sons “R” Us

“A great holiday (or other occasion) appetizer, and it has bacon AND cheddar!” — Diann

Green Surprise Inside Christmas Cake from Lina @ Sew Historically

“How clever is this! Imagine how exciting it would be to find the surprise jelly inside, just like finding the toy inside the Cracker Jack box.” — Angie

Here I sit, writing, wearing my own robe. Christmas comes in with great fanfare and is suddenly…over. Just over! Too quickly. Now I have to decide what to do with all those leftover roasted veggies. I may have to checkout Mollie’s blog for ideas.

We are hosting our traditional New Year’s hike and chili party on January 1, 2019. The big change is that it will be up in Fort Bragg instead of the Bay Area. And that’s the first time I’ve written 2019. Goodness!

Happy New Year Angie and thanks for letting me co-host, now…what to post?

Finally got out of the house today and did a little food shopping, only because I also had an appointment with the eye doctor ? I can llive on toasts and coffee, seriously. If I didn’t have a husband and children, that’s what I’d probably do. Thanks for cohosting!

Liz, I have a post of over 50 ideas for leftover root veggies, lol!! I know I just mentioned the 2019 thing! It gets harder every year to get into the swing of writing that! But luckily every year, I have to write it less and less…when is the last time I wrote a check?!! I hope you’ll be posting some of your Chili recipes! I know I’ve seen a Chili or two on your site in the past!

Hi Mollie, Happy New Year (almost). It usually takes me a few weeks to get used to the new year as well. The years are going by too quickly. And the chili party is happening on New Year’s Day, plus we have had company for the past week. I’ve been fine tuning a couple of recipes, one in the instant pot.

I am definitely going to do a cram on reading all the posts this week after everyone leaves tomorrow.

It’s unbelievable that it is almost 2019! This made me think what did I do this year aside from eating?? For New Year, I am only making Filipino Spaghetti (always present in every occasion), Cassava Cake and Filipino Cheese Sticks.? Just small celebration for few people. Others might bring food (helloooo, friends!!?).? Thank you for another amazing year of partying with all of you. Happy New Year to everyone!!? Happy FF, Angie.?

Oh you did more than eat, Jhuls. You worked extra hard, putting in more hours and you went self hosted with your blog. I’d say you accomplished quite a lot this past year. Now you can relax in the new year ?
