Fiesta Friday #211

The husband and I spent a lovely romantic morning on Valentine’s Day. Yes siree, Bob! It was very lovely and romantic, indeed.

Uh oh, you know when that “indeed” comes on, I’m either serious…

Or sarcastic… and besides, who the heck is Bob? Can someone enlighten me?!

So. The morning of Valentine’s Day… My dishwasher broke and spilled water all over. My kitchen was flooded!

So that’s how I spent the questionable romantic morning with the husband. We mopped and mopped and then sanitized everything.

Then I demanded to go to Joe’s Crab Shack. When I’m tired and hungry, I want to eat crispy calamari, Caesar salad, crab cake, Great Balls of Fire, in that order. Yes, I started with an appetizer and ended with an appetizer. So?! It was Valentine’s Day and I just went through 4 hours of mopping and cleaning my kitchen.

Anyway, there was way too much food for the two of us, so we brought home a lot of leftovers. Hurray, no cooking for me on Valentine’s Day!

Favorites from last week’s fiesta:

Heart-shaped Macarons with Chocolate Ganache from Jenny @ Jenny Is Baking

“How could Jenny make these gorgeous heart-shaped macarons when I can’t even make the round ones? Haha! These look so beautiful I could stare at them all day… and eat them after! :D” — Jhuls

Soft Italian Amaretti Cookies (gluten and dairy free) from Kate @ The Gluten Free Alchemist

“Kate made these gorgeous cookies in memory of her mother. Baked to perfection, crisp and light with a gooey inside, yes please!” — Laurena

Red velvet Marble Bundt Cake from Jess @ Cooking Is My Sport

“I am always amazed by Jess’s creativity. I love anything red velvet, but I’ve never thought of a red velvet marble bundt cake. The cake is so beautiful and I am pretty sure that it is delicious, too!” — Jhuls

Savory Ricotta Pie with Caramelized Onions from Alex @ Turks Who Eat

“I’m so in the mood for savory pies! And this one ticks all the right boxes for me. Ricotta, caramelized onions, kale…what’s not to like?! Anything with kale is practically healthy, no?! I know it’s definitely delicious!” — Angie

Sorry about the dishwasher, Angie! That sucks. But then again, you’re redefining what romance means, so kudos to that 🙂

Oh hi, Indira! It’s been so long! Hey, all my old friends are here, how cool is that? So glad to see you back! I’m patting myself on the back for not being too upset, and the hubster, too. He was such a good sport, taking the day off to help me clean the kitchen. We’re enjoying a nice clean kitchen now ?

It sounds like your Valentines had a bit of a shaky start but the dinner sounded great! I have never had an appetizer for dessert but it sounds inspired! I didn’t have much romance either, I did a pop up restaurant and that got pretty much all of my attention! At least M got fed! 🙂
Have a great rest of the week! x

Lol, appetizer for dessert ? We were too full anyway for dessert. And I knew there were chocolate truffles waiting at home. The husband always gets me those for Valentine’s. We ended up having a good day. I hope you and M had a fun day. Manning a pop up restaurant sounds like a fun thing to do ?
