Fiesta Friday #79

Is it Friday already?! Good grief, time is a-flying!

I need to start a-running!

Before my guests come a-calling!

They’ll be here in less than no time, and I feel like I can’t get the house clean enough, soon enough!

Oh, well, what are you gonna do?

I know! Let’s party, instead!

With Loretta@Safari of the Mind and Jess@Cooking Is My Sport. Good times guaranteed!

***

And now…drum rolls, please… Presenting features from last week’s fiesta:

Homemade Rose Harissa Spice Mix from Elaine @ foodbod

“[This] gives us a floral twist to harissa. I not only liked the recipe but the colours, textures and flavors in this mix are stunning in Elaine’s pictures. I love the “bling” in her scoop, too, which took me back to some happy memories of a movie and a young family member dancing in a show. This post just evokes happiness and because of the roses, summertime!” — Judi

“Sometimes when you read a spice mix recipe you can almost taste it. This harissa spice mix has beautifully vibrant colours and I can almost smell it reading about it! It makes me want to reach for the ingredients and make it straight away for, like Elaine, a sprinkle on most everything. The falafels look amazing and oh, that butternut squash looks to die for!” — Petra

“Well, first of all, I’ve been obsessing on harissa all week this week. And here’s the best recipe for it. Elaine, you’re psychic. I swear you can read my mind!” — Angie

Baklava from Steffi @ Ginger&Bread

“This looks amazing. Steffi is taking us to the Middle East with absolutely delicious looking baklava made from scratch. I find it so inspiring when I see someone make something new and it looks so delicious! The syrup sounds so flavourful and the baklava so delicious, I am sure I would eat more than one or two pieces. This is perfect party food!” — Petra

Triple Layer Lemon Meringue Cake from Shani @ The Weekend Sugar

“This caught my eye immediately because it is a lemon dessert and her pictures were very showy with the torched meringue. If you love lemon you will enjoy this dessert. Three different flavors are going on here; lemon curd, lemon buttercream and finishing with a crisp meringue – now, what’s not to like!” — Judi

New Beginnings and the Big 3: Baked Churros from Naina @ Spice in the City

“Naina shared some great news with us. This is her third anniversary of blogging and she has given her site a new look which looks fantastic. To top it off Naina brought some delicious baked churros you could dip in chocolate. I just love to see bloggers who are dedicated to their blog and make the
effort to maintain and improve it. Happy Anniversary Naina and many more to come!” — Judi

“Wha-a-a-t…? What’s going on? See, I closed my eyes for just a second and already I missed all kinds of important milestones going on around here. 3rd year Blogiversary? That’s a big deal! A new self-hosted site? That’s a big freaking deal! Way to go, Naina! We wish you all the luck, not that you need any. Judging from your natural talents as a cook and writer and keen eyes for food styling, you certainly will go far. We’re cheering you on, especially since you bribed us with the delicious churros, yum!” — Angie

I need to make that harissa! You know why? I can’t find bottled harissa! Selma used it a lot in her recipes and I feel like I won’t be getting the full experience if I try her recipes without it, so thank you for the recipe. It’s a crowd favorite! 🙂

I’m so pleased!! Especially if it means you can make more of Selma’s recipes. I do have the recipe for the full paste on my blog too though xx

Yes, I think I remember the paste recipe, but this will give me another option, too. I think I’ll try both. The only thing I don’t have is the dry red bell pepper, but that shouldn’t be too hard to find, right?
