Fiesta Friday #64

I’ve been very busy this week, mostly with the garden. My goodness, those weeds didn’t wait for even one minute! As soon as Spring arrived, so did they! So I’ve been digging and pulling and hoeing and raking and so on and so forth.

And my eyes are itchy and my nose is runny… Aah… Spring and Sneezes… You can’t have one without the other… Just like Cookies and Milk… Fish and Chips… Sonny and Cher… Ginger and Loretta…

They’re your co-hosts this week! Ginger is a new co-host for you, isn’t it exciting? Yay! And she is ably assisted by a returning co-host, Loretta! Double yay!! Don’t forget to link your post to their blogs, Ginger & Bread and Safari Of The Mind. (Great blog names, by the way!)

After I finish sneezing, I will join you at the fiesta, okey dokey? I’ll bring something!

Outstanding posts from last week’s fiesta are:

Teriyaki Flank Steak Sushi Burgers from Dini @Giramuk’s Kitchen.

“I wanted to jump for joy when I read this post! I was completely mesmerized by Dini’s creative take on classic Sushi! I honestly can’t stop thinking about the layers of flavour and texture here. It is so very refined and yet so much fun!” — Julianna

“For those of us who love sushi, and those of us who love steaks, and pretty much those who just love great food, Dini has created a sensation with this burger. Her tantalizing teriyaki would do it for me on its own, but presented in this novel ‘bun’ with all the Asian style trimmings she really takes this dish above and beyond.” — Hilda

“One word. So. Freaking. Awesome. Okay, 3 words! Unbelievable! Okay, one word! Whatever, I’m just speechless!” — Angie

Rhubarb Hibiscus Macarons from ten.times.tea.

“Anyone who can make professional looking macarons deserves in my books some serious recognition. These ones are particularly appealing with their natural colours and fruity floral flavours. This recipe just screams “make me!”, and with these step by step instructions and photos I think I just might.” — Hilda

“Wow! Rhubarb Hibiscus macarons? ten.times.tea, what is your real name? And where do you live? So we can go visit you? You know, so we can innocently wander into your kitchen? And accidentally wipe these out?” — Angie

For the love of cauliflower from Elaine @foodbod.

“If this post doesn’t inspire you to start cooking with cauliflowers, then you must have been decidedly against cauliflowers. I will never look at cauliflowers and think “boring” anymore. Such a versatile vegetable! I’m set to do all kinds of experiments! Thanks, Elaine! You’ve opened my eyes!” — Angie

Asparagus, Mozzarella and Lamb Salad with Garlic Buttermilk from Petra @ Food Eat Love.

“Petra is a wiz at elegance both in presentation and flavours. Her dishes never cease to wow me and this is no exception. This is actually so much more than a salad, but what else can we call it? The tender pulled lamb, crisp greens, asparagus in season and all embellished by a mound of mozzarella with a creamy garlicky sauce call for a category all its own.” — Hilda

“Words fail me! Petra is an Iron Chef! Our very own Iron Chef! How lucky are we to have her recipes? Petra, you need an agent asap!” — Angie

Happppppppppppppy Friday Ang! You’ll be happy to hear about my latest milestone- we are starting our very first garden this year!!! I am BEYOND excited! My husband has a serious green thumb (and used to own a landscape company) so he’s doing most of the work for now but I can’t wait to get out there! And I’m especially excited for fresh vegetables! Last time I went to get a cucumber at the grocery store I smashed by new 2015 rogue into my husbands truck. It’ll be much safer when the cucumbers are in the backyard! 😉 HAPPY FRIDAY! Good luck with those allergies, I get them bad too!

What?! Your husband owned a landscape company?! How lucky can a girl get! Your garden will be the envy of the neighborhood!! My husband on the other hand doesn’t know the difference between a flower and a weed. He pulled all my flowers and left me with the weeds!!
I feel so much better knowing you’ll be getting your cucumbers from your backyard, LOL!! 😀

I love gardening but find it much more challenging than cooking. Half the time I’m battling Mother Nature or wild animals. So many things you can’t control out there, unlike in the kitchen. That’s why I’m the novice gardener, haha… 😀

Such a wonderful selection of posts from last week. They all deserve a huge round of applause. I hope your allergies don’t cause you too much discomfort Angie. Isn’t it fun to be out in the garden again though? I’m always in a happy place when I’m out there digging and finding worms and such. Roll on summer! 🙂 Thanks for inviting me to co-host again 🙂 It is always such a pleasure!

Yes, it’s a lot of fun to be out in the garden, actually. I find myself happiest and healthiest strangely when I’m outside even though I get allergies. They’re temporary, anyway. I feel fine later in the season. But I don’t like it when it’s too hot! I’m such a complainer! 🙂 Thank YOU, Loretta, for co-hosting. I can’t keep Fiesta Friday going without help from my co-hosts!! XOXO

You’re welcome, Petra! I do have a question for you. Do you keep an archive of your recipes? There must be enough there for a book, or at least an idea of a book. Most of your recipes are one-of-a-kind! You should seriously consider it! XOXO

Benadryl works for me. Actually Zyrtec works better, but every time I take it, I can’t wake up LOL! The best way to take care of them I hear is allergy shots, but I’m scared of needles! 😀
