#99! Does that sound threatening or what?! It’s like a warning. One more week until #100, yikes!
But it’s exciting as well! Nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time, if you will.
I have something planned to mark the special occasion, which I will tell you in a minute.
But first I need to get something off my chest. For some reason, every time I hear the number 99, there’s this commercial jingle that immediately jumps to my mind.
It goes like this, “Nine-ninety-nine, are you outta your mind?!”
Now I have no idea why that is. Or where I heard that jingle from. And it kinda bothers me a little that nobody in my family knows what I’m talking about. And so I just thought I should talk to you about it. ‘Cos it does me no good to carry this in my chest and you’re my sounding board. And I’m yours, of course.
Anyway, THE PLAN!
I thought it’d be a good idea to celebrate #100 by combining it with the Second Anniversary; it’s close enough.
And then, since it’s also close enough to New Year’s Day, I thought we should also combine it with a New Year’s Celebration.
And then, since it’s a celebration of so many events all in one, I thought we should extend the party to two weeks.
That way if you can’t make it the first week, you can still catch us partying the next week.
So… #100 is going to run for 2 whole weeks! And it’s going to be THE BIGGEST ANNIVERSARY CUM NEW YEAR’S BASH!!
And it’s going to be the most fun online party, period!
And we’ll have 4 superb co-hostesses with the mostest to make sure that everything will run smoothly.
So, please start spreading the news! Invite all your friends to join in the fun!
It’s a bash, it’s a gala! Bring us your most extravagant and lavish dish and dessert! Let’s live it up! Yolo, people! (If the president can say it, so can I.)
*****
But right now we’re still partying, Christmas-style, with Caroline @ Caroline’s Cooking and Linda @ La Petite Paniere. Caroline is a seasoned co-host and we’re very happy to have her. Linda is a brand-new co-host and is a wee bit nervous so please let her know it will be a-okay. I have every confidence they both will do a smashing job!
Now, let’s look at all these fabulous Christmas treats:
Linzer Cookies by Naina @ Spice In The City
“These cookies look awesome, perfect for the Christmas festive season.” — Sadhna
“I agree with Sadhna. These Linzer cookies are not your everyday cookies; these are your special holiday treats! Nothing can possibly look any more festive than these cookies. Just so pretty!” — Angie
Gingerbread Caramel Crunch from Jess @ Cooking is My Sport
“I’ve been drooling over this recipe since I first saw it. I’m actually going to attempt making it tonight as a gift for my daughters preschool teachers.” — Natalie
“And I’m drooling along with Natalie. This sounds so, so, so GOOD!! I’ll be making this, too, and I’ll be smuggling it into the movies when I go see the much-anticipated THE FORCE AWAKENS. I’m not eating movie theater popcorn! Not when I have this!” — Angie
Cranberry & Marzipan Star Bread from Sarah @ Tales From The Kitchen Shed
“If I could make this spectacular bread, I wouldn’t even eat it! It would instead top my Christmas tree… for a minute, haha… Then it’ll disappear… into my tummy. Seriously, is there any bread as gorgeous as THIS?!” — Angie
Ginger Glazed Gammon from Hannah @ Domestic Gothess
“Growing up, both my husband and I were more familiar with Christmas Dinners that featured ham as the centerpiece. Over the years, however, we’ve been trying to make our own Christmas traditions for our kids to remember. So we’ve veered off from the ham, and have replaced it with prime rib roast. Looking at this, however, makes me want to go back to ham. Doesn’t it look so HAM-some? 😀 Haha!” — Angie

Dad Whats 4 Dinner says
Sounds like a heck of a party Angie!!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my Fiesta Friday friends I have met this year. It has been fun getting to know everyone and growing my blogging circle. Thanks Angie for hosting every week and to this weeks co-host Caroline @ Caroline’s Cooking and Linda @ La Petite Paniere.. Happy FF!!
Angie says
And you’d better be there, Quinn, in your tuxedo! Or whatever party getup you prefer. The fancier the better 😀 Likewise, it’s been fun getting to know you!
Suchitra says
Triple celebration for 3 weeks sounds like a great plan Angie!! I am drooling over this week’s features!! Happy holidays to you and your family!
Angie says
Now why didn’t I think of 3 weeks! It’s actually only 2, Su, but you and I can party on til week #3 😀
Suchitra says
After all it is the “Party season”. There is Christmas, New Year and the Fiesta Friday Ceebration! That makes it 3 !!??
carolinescookingblog says
Woohoo, party time! Let’s kind of start this week and that will make it 3 as Su says 🙂 Looking forward to doing the rounds of all the tasty dishes, and putting my thinking cap on for the celebration – are we thinking party food?
Angie says
Yes, party food!! Or celebratory food, something you reserve for special occasions. The more outrageous the better, lol! Thanks for co-hosting this week. Let’s party for 3 weeks!
Suchitra says
Yay!!???
Suchitra says
Thanks for coming to my rescue Caroline!?
Johanne Lamarche says
You are so funny Angie! Great selections for features and the gala celebration sounds like a perfect plan with the holidays upon us.
Angie says
Yah, but do you remember that commercial? Maybe it was on radio? Maybe I’m crazy, lol! Put on your stilettos, Johanne, be ready to party! 😀
Johanne Lamarche says
Probably didn’t play in Canada???? can stilettos be worn as a hat? Like a fascination in The UK? lol
Angie says
After some sleuthing and bothering people, I solved the mystery of the jingle! It was a Denny’s commercial probably from the 90s. But it was ONE-Ninety-Nine. Phew, now I’m tired. Sleuthing is hard work! And I would love to see stilettos fascinator, that would be a first, and only on Fiesta Friday, haha…
Johanne Lamarche says
Lol!
Ginger says
I am so looking forward to that party, Angie! Are you all organised and set for the real thing?! I’m ok for the first two days, but after Christmas Day it’s all foggy … leftovers, maybe?
Angie says
Well, you’d better! You’re one of the co-hosts of the special event! I hope you didn’t forget! 🙂
Ginger says
No way-all systems are set on ‘go!’ 😉
cookingwithauntjuju.com says
Good features Angie; I especially liked Sarah’s bread. Looking forward to the two week long party – I have not partied like that since I was in college. LOL! I am definitely going to participate as it should be a lot of fun celebrating a special occasion with everyone from Fiesta Friday 🙂
Angie says
Of course you’ll have to participate! You’re one of the co-hosts for the special event! You didn’t forget, did you? 🙂 I’ll be sending an email to the four of you as a reminder next week.
cookingwithauntjuju.com says
Of course I did not forget – I am looking forward to it. I enjoy co-hosting and this time it will be a little more special – hard to believe it has been two years 🙂
Angie says
It seems just like yesterday, doesn’t it? 🙂
lapetitepaniere says
Excited to get the pre-celebrations started this week!! Thanks again Angie for allowing me to co-host this week with Caroline 🙂 Oh, and I can assure you the mini stage-fright has gone, these recipes look way too good for nerves 😀
Angie says
No, it’s me who has to thank you for co-hosting! You’re doing all the hard work! But it can be a lot of fun, too, right? And that’s probably why all your jitters are gone. These folks are just so wonderful to hang out with! 🙂
Elaine @ foodbod says
The party sounds like FUN!!!! I do wish that Selma could be with us though 🙁
Anyway, I’m not here to dampen spirits – bring on #99 and the lovely Linda, yay!!!! xxxx
Angie says
I know how you feel. Selma would have been so excited. She was always so supportive. If she were here, FF would have been a lot more than what it is. She was always giving me ideas. I miss Selma.
Elaine @ foodbod says
I know what you mean, she was so creative and innovative. I miss her too, in so many ways and in so many situations – there’s always something I want to tell her 🙁
eclecticoddsnsods says
oh my that all looks simply amazing. Especially that ham…mmmm
Now Angie I don’t know why i am still having issues uploading images to InLinkz, I am clearly the only one, cannot even do it from a URL Link, says its either too big or not an image, very odd, even says it when I pick small ones, it must be an issue my end, bah hum bug! x
eclecticoddsnsods says
Totally ignore my comment about images Angie, I appear to have done it yay! LOL…slaps my forehead x
Angie says
Happy to hear you solved the image issue, ‘coz I wouldn’t have known how to help! Are you ready to partay next week, Justine? 😀
eclecticoddsnsods says
oh gosh i am sooo not ready for Xmas yet, are you? lol x
Angie says
It’s too late now to not feel ready, haha… We had our Christmas Eve dinner and now we’re getting ready for midnight mass. By the time we get home, it’ll be Christmas! Merry Christmas, Justine! XOXO
Sarah 'n Spice says
99?! Where has the time gone! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone 🙂
Angie says
I know! 99 are you outta your mind?! Haha! Merry Christmas to you, too, Sarah! Be ready to partay next week! 😀
Loretta says
A large pat on your back dear Angie, you’ve brought us all this far, I’ll forever be indebted to you and the Lovely Selma who introduced me to Fiesta Friday. Great features, now to think of the big party coming up and what I might contribute…..hmmmmm
Angie says
You must miss Selma very much. You have so much in common. We can’t help thinking about her at times like this. She was always giving me ideas. She was even going to draft me better rules and guidelines. Right now I’m actually a little undecided about what to do with having 2 separate blogs. Wish I could ask her opinion 🙁
Johnny Hepburn says
Yolo?! You’re doing it again, aren’t you. I haven’t heard that one. Must Google what it means. Anyway, massive congrats for next week! Oh, and I haven’t heard of that jingle either. 🙂
Angie says
What about cray cray? I think I’m okay with just cray, but cray cray?! That’s too much, don’t you think? This is what happens when you work in a school; you start sounding like one of the kids yourself! And why don’t you come to the party, Sir? You’re one of the original cray members, after all, haha… Btw, the jingle is from 90s Denny’s grand slam commercial, except it was 1.99, not 9.99. Someone at work helped me remember. Thank God! Now there’s no more heartburn in my chest! 😀
Angie says
Oh, and yolo stands for you only live once 😀
Jhuls says
Angie, I am so excited for the FF #100. Yay! And two weeks? Hmmm, I must prepare my tummy for the delicious foods and of course, for the unlimited chit chats. 😀
Angie says
And I’m preparing mine for the the yummy stuff you’ll be bringing! You’d better, Jhuls! Btw, do you know how to make Sans Rival cake? I had it once and omgz, it was incredible!! One day I must try to make it. It looks so complicated but that would be one dessert I’ll be willing to work all day in the kitchen to make! 🙂
Jhuls says
Haha! That’s crazy, because I was also thinking about making Sans Rival cake for FF#100, but if I do, that will be my first time. But I suddenly changed my mind and thought of a fondant cake, but then again, I changed my mind. 😀
I have seen recipes, Angie, but I haven’t decided which one is good for me. And yeah, that cake is insanely good! Now, you make me want to make the cake. But making the meringue makes me scared – I failed thrice (making simple meringues – all three attempts result to a burned meringues), so I will see if I can find my fighting spirit again.
Sarah James @ Tales From The Kitchen Shed says
Thanks for featuring my Cranberry & Marzipan Star Angie & for your lovely comment, I couldn’t help but smile at the thought of my bread on the top of a Christmas tree ?
Traveling to Guernsey this weekend to spend Christmas with our family but I hope to join the party in the New Year. Congratulations on the big 100 & a huge thank you to hosting the fiesta party. Look forward to seeing some fab festive recipes over the next 2 weeks.
Angie says
You’re welcome, Sarah! One day I must try your amazing bread. I even showed it to my daughter and you should have seen her face! Her jaw dropped! She thought it was the most beautiful bread ever. I hope you’ll make it to the party. It’s a 2-week event so you can definitely catch us still partying when the new year comes around. 🙂
Sarah James @ Tales From The Kitchen Shed says
That would be lovely Angie, your daughter is so kind, pass on my thanks. Off to check out the Fiesta 100 party 🙂
milkandbun says
Oh my goodness! So many festive treats.. my mouth is watering! hahaha I’ve missed few FF, but #100 and Xmas all together, I will be joining the party 100%! Can’t wait! 🙂
Angie says
Can’t wait to see what you’ll be bringing, Mila! I know it’ll be fabulous. I’m so looking forward!! 🙂
Justine @ Born and Bred in Brooklyn says
This is amazing and I’ve so missed this warm, welcoming space so much! I’ve been on a little blogging hiatus, but coming back and still seeing so many familiar (and new!) faces is such a treasure. I’m so happy that FF #100 is just around the corner and even if I cannot contribute, I’ll be sure to attend. So, here’s to 100 more!!! Congrats 😀
Angie says
Hi, Justine!! Where you been, girl?! We’ve missed you and I’m glad to hear you’ll be attending the big bash! It’ll be exciting to see old and new friends together, catching up with one another. It’s been such a busy year for me as well so I’m really looking forward to kicking back and relaxing during the holidays, and visiting as many blogger friends as possible! I feel like I’ve been out of the loop with so many myself! 🙂
Justine @ Born and Bred in Brooklyn says
I’m so excited!! I can’t wait. This is a big milestone and I’m glad you’re celebrating in a big way! Let’s go!! 😀

Thanks Angie for another lovely party. I am also exited for the next party and celebration.
I joined Fiesta Friday around 8 months before.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

spiceinthecity says
Thank you so very much for the feature Angie!! I’ll be working right up to Christmas Eve and have had to finish off so many tasks, so have been MIA 🙁 but can’t wait for #100!!! So exciting 😀 Wish you a very Merry Christmas and lots of love xx
Angie says
And I was complaining that I have to work right up to the day before Christmas Eve! Not to worry, Naina, the party is 2 weeks long. You’ll have plenty of time to catch us celebrating. Looking forward to welcoming you to the party! Merry Christmas! XOXO
Sue says
Super excited. I just recently resuscitated my blogging muscles, blood and breath. I miss it! I especially miss Fridays. Do you have your hosts? I assume that you do . . . . looking forward to a big time blow-out party!!!
Angie says
Well, hello!! So wonderful to hear you’ll be at the party! Can’t wait to see what you’ll be bringing. I know whatever it is, it’ll be spectacular! Yes, I do my my hosts lined up. 4 of them! 😀 But I’ll be happy to have you anytime in the future. Just tell me when!
tentimestea says
Can’t wait for FF #100! I love the idea of an extended two week party–it’ll help spread out all the delicious food and fun! Gorgeous features from last week. I’m getting excited to do some holiday baking now 🙂
Angie says
And it’ll give me time to relax a little, haha… I won’t have to rush. I have my ulterior motive. Although I think it’ll benefit everyone; there’s so much to do around the holidays! Can’t wait to see all your holiday baking, Laurie! 🙂
Margherita says
I am very sorry to be always late and have missed a lot of FF parties… I hope to be there for the #100… I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Angie says
Perfectly understandable, Margy! Don’t feel bad; you’re a new mom! But I really hope you can make it to the special FF100. Merry Christmas to you, too! We’re getting ready to go to midnight mass, woohoo! 🙂
