Fiesta Friday #248

Is anyone else tired after Halloween? I’m always tired the day after Halloween. And I didn’t even go trick-or-treating.

All that getting up and opening the door to dispense candy is quite the exercise. That, plus chasing after Skye who got too excited seeing all the little trick-or-treaters and wanted to follow them, is enough for me!

Here’s the little rascal when she wasn’t running around.

Skye is a Westie given up by her owners and was placed in a shelter that was unfortunately NOT a no-kill shelter. She was considered a senior at 8 years old and after a month at the shelter, we finally adopted her. She has anxiety issues and needs a lot of attention, but we absolutely LOVE her!!

I feel better this morning, thank you, and am ready to fiesta! I hope everyone had a great Halloween!

P. S. Can anyone cohost on the following dates: November 16, December 21, and December 28)? Please let me know!

Now, take a look at these yummies!

Apple Cake from Heather @ My Sweet Precision

“I absolutely love this cake! Chunks of apples, cinnamon, and a walnut topping…wow! This is a truly beautiful cake with some of the best flavors on earth!” — Antonia

“How could you possibly resist a slice of this!? Heather has made Autumn in a cake – layer upon layer of apples, cinnamon and walnuts – sheer perfection!” — Laurena

Banana Cream Cake from Jess @ Cooking Is My Sport

“Now that is levelling up! Jess has ingeniously added a vanilla cream layer inside her cake – cake and cream in one! Yes, please!” — Laurena

Spiced Pumpkin & Apple Loaf Cake from Laurena @ Life Diet Health

“We have Apple Cake from Heather, Banana Cake from Jess… so what can you possibly need?! An Apple Banana Pumpkin Cake, of course! Somehow Laurena has managed to combine ALL the flavors of fall in one single cake! That’s an impressive feat!” — Angie

Birria – An Exceptional Dish from Irene @ My Slice of Mexico

“This one is a must-try. Just read the list of ingredients. If that’s not a promise of an exceptional dish, I don’t know what is!” — Angie

😀 Thank you! I feel ‘famous’ now! 😀 More baking… my son thought ‘chocolate’ bread was a good idea!? Not sure I’ve time to create that as we have an 8 month old in the house this weekend! I so forgot how much energy they need! Oh, and I did tell Mollie I was making marshmallows this weekend so I could make her marshmallow popcorn bars! I’ll see what we get up to! Happy Fiesta-ing! xxx

Oh goodness, Skye is too adorable! I’m right there with you Angie, I was exhausted after Halloween. It was the first year we went out with our little girl and all that doorbell ringing was exhausting! Also, thank you for the feature! Imagine my surprise when I was scrolling down your post! Thanks goodness it’s Friday! Hope you have a lovely weekend and get some rest 🙂

Thanks! She’s also a spoiled brat! We love her to death, though. Must have been so special and memorable to take your little girl trick or treating for the first time! Did you take thousands of photos? ?? Your Apple Cake is gorgeous! It was a fiesta favorite!

Only 2 hours into FF #248 and I see lots of good recipes already! I will be back Angie to check in on everyone… You know it’s been said that the day after Halloween should be a “national holiday” 🙂 🙂 🙂

It really should! For parents, Halloween usually means extra work. Between driving and picking up kids to go to a specific party, giving out candy, watching and preventing the dog from dashing into the street, etc., we really deserve the next day off ?

I must say I was quite surprised by the turn-out this Halloween. Trick-or-treating is definitely growing in strength here in the UK and it’s been our second best year to date with so many kiddos knocking on our door. I had my two boys on giving out the sweets duty this year so managed not to overexert myself 😉 Have a great weekend Angie! 🙂
    Ps. Skye is looking gorgeous!

In the past, my husband usually walked with the kids to trick or treat while I held down the fort. These days, we take turns giving out candy, but with so many kids in the neighborhood, it can still be exhausting. Actually, they’re not even from the neighborhood. I saw vans parking in front of my house dropping off kids and I can’t say I recognize them! Oh well, it’s all good.

I am exhausted as well, Angie! That scene you were describing (just switch “Ty” for “Skye”) was identical at my house; the sad difference is that at some point, I decided to set the bowl of candy with an honour-system-“two pieces per kid” sign and within five minutes, three boys (no costumes!) grabbed all the treats. 🙁 That did teach me that being lazy does not pay off, so next year I will stay by the door … On a brighter note, thank you so much for featuring my Birria! This Fiesta Friday already looks so yummy, have a great weekend!

I tried that one year, and had the same experience! Even sadder that some parents were there watching their kids dipping their hands multiple times and didn’t say anything! I’m very intrigued by that birria recipe and will have to try soon!

I feel like I kind of miss out on Halloween living in an apartment 🙁 We don’t get any trick or treaters, but we did dress up our dog just for fun lol! Happy to be hosting this week 😀

Be careful what you wish for ? Actually most of these kids are fun and cute, especially the little little ones. A few and their parents can get on your nerves! Thanks for cohosting, Alex! ??
