Waiting for the school year to end is making me grumpy! The last weeks are always the longest and I feel cross every time I have to wake up early to go to work.
Once the weather warms up, I resent being taken away from my garden. That includes work.
So there, I let my feelings be known.
The only thing I want to do is go out there in my backyard and look at my plants. It’s my favorite thing to do in the whole world! Even though there are “things” in there that scare me.
Like the lemon balm and the wild arugula. They can easily take over the entire yard if I let them. Does anybody want some?
And now it’s time to fiesta, yay! That, by the way, is the only thing that can take me away from my garden.
From last week’s fiesta:
“I really love this! My plants may be exploding outside in the garden, but my indoor plants are looking pathetic. Succulents are notoriously easy to care for, and may even take a bit of neglect, so I think I’ll give this a try. ” — Angie
“These beauties are like summer on a stick! That combo of mango, milk, and vanilla…yum! I can’t stop thinking about this delicious dessert!” — Antonia
“I love dishes packed with flavor, and this pulled jerk chicken really delivers. It looks perfectly browned and moist. I could eat this chicken any day of the week.” — Antonia
“How pretty and refreshing does this salad look! Such a great twist on the classic caprese with the addition of grilled asparagus. Let’s make this, everybody!” — Angie

Wow love your wilderness scene! I have very small balcony garden and would love some open space right now 🙂 Thanks much for the feature!

Be careful what you wish for ? A large garden can be fun, but the maintenance can be a nightmare. My garden takes all my spare time at the moment. Love your popsicles!
Jhuls | The Not So Creative Cook says
Whoa!! If only I love gardening. Sigh!
Maybe next time you could tour us in your garden, Angie! Happy Fiesta Friday!?
Angie says
I will eventually give you a tour. Once it’s all cleaned up. Which is never. So, I’m not sure if the tour will ever happen. Lol, just kidding Jhuls. I’ll share more garden pictures in the future, promise. Thanks for cohosting! ??

Gardening can be so rewarding, but it is hard work. It is amazing how fast something can take over. Have a fabulous weekend and Happy Fiesta Friday, Angie!
Angie says
I always say be careful what you wish for. My garden is pretty big so I wanted plants that can spread quickly, but I didn’t think I’d be battling to get rid of them, years later! Oh well lesson learned. At least I’m enjoying my time in the garden ? Have a great weekend, Antonia! ?

Angie, I get it about your garden…I have trouble coming inside these days. My favorite time of day is the tour of the garden with a cup of tea first thing in the morning. Hopefully school will be out soon and I look forward to reading more about your garden. I made the same mistake at the Oakland house of scattering seeds of the wild arugula, it absolutely took over. And I LOVE arugula and could not keep up with it.
Liz says
Forgot to say I can co-host after June 15th when we get back from visiting family in TN.
Angie says
Now I know why they call it wild arugula ? When I first found the seeds I thought it sounded wonderful. The taste is a little too strong but I recently read it has anti cancer properties so I guess I’ll try to eat more of it. Rabbits seem to leave it alone ? Is June 22 good for you?
Lizet Flores de Bowen says
Hey Angie! I pm you on facebook early this week about co-hosting. 🙂
Angie says
Oh okay, will look at it and reply asap. Thanks, Lizet!

I’ll happily take some arugula off your hands please 🙂 There would be salads galore 🙂 Enjoy your weekend Angie!

You can take as much as you want! Seriously, I don’t know where you live but if you were close by I’d be dropping off bagfuls at your doorstep! ?

Don’t let anything take you away from your garden… after a long day at work, that is what i look forward to 😉 my lemon balm is flourishing along with my radishes and spring onions. love it!!
Angie says
What do you do with your lemon balm? I find the flavor a little odd in a salad, almost perfumy. In a tea or syrup it’s really good, but I have so much! There must be some other uses for it?
Zeba Durrani says
I add a little to salad dressing, teas, and marinades. Smells so good just rubbing it in my hands whenever I get a chance. I have also infused it in lip balms and salves. Fresh leaves in a salad are a bit perfumer but finely chopped with other greens brings out a great freshness.
Angie says
Oh wow, lemon balm lip balm sounds great! Maybe that’s the best use for lemon balm. That’s why it’s called balm ?
Susan says
Thank you so much for featuring my post about succulents!. I really appreciate it!.

Thanks for featuring my salad recipe this week! It’s destined to be a favorite of ours this summer!

It’s also destined to be a favorite of mine, I just know it. Caprese salad is so good, it’s even better with grilled asparagus.
