Fiesta Friday #84

So… summer is officially over for me. I went back to school (read: work) this week.

It went by so fast. I swear… I took a nap, and then when I woke up, summer was gone. What. Is. Going. On?!

I don’t even think I took a long nap. The evidence? I’m constantly sleepy and tired now. I wouldn’t be had I taken a long enough nap.

Does anybody else feel the same way?

What I need is some party to rejuvenate my tired bones. To refresh my eyes. To reawaken my soul. To reinvigorate my spirit…

Hey! Thankfully, there’s Fiesta Friday, hurray! And this week, Effie @ Food Daydreaming and Steffi @ Ginger & Bread are your co-hosts.

It’s The Effie & Steffi Show!! Seriously, it’s going to be off the hook!! You need to come and join!!

***

And now… outstanding posts from last week are:

Lebanese Inspired Marinated and Roasted Chickpeas and Potatoes from Jhuls @ The Not So Creative Cook

Lebanese-Inspired Roasted Chicken, Potatoes and Chickpeas from Loretta @ Safari of the Mind

“This one is personal…It was lovely for me to see Loretta’s and Jhuls’ posts, cooking mine and then Selma’s recipe; once again, it shows our community, and sharing, and how our food experiences move around the world… ” — Elaine

“This dish will be very famous forever. I made the dish myself (both Elaine’s and Selma’s) and both are so insanely good. I could see from Loretta’s version that it has more sauce and I would love, love to dive into the pan and polish off everything 😀 ” — Jhuls

“I second both Elaine and Jhuls on this one. I tried the roasted chicken and my family gave it a resounding approval. It’s bound to be a repeat for many, many dinners! Such an excellent, five-star recipe! I encourage you all to give it a try” — Angie

Rhubarb Crabapple Ketchup from Hilda @ Along The Grapevine

“I grew up knowing only Banana and Tomato Ketchup. I don’t know that such ketchup like Hilda’s Rhubarb Crabapple Ketchup could ever exist. I could almost imagine the amazing flavors. I wish she could send me a bottle 😀 ” — Jhuls

“As always, Hilda inspires us by presenting a recipe using lesser-known or seldom-used ingredients. Apple ketchup actually sounds even more delicious than regular ketchup!” — Angie

Flower Bread from Sarah @ Tales From The Kitchen Shed

“This flower loaf is stunning; the step by step photos are so interesting, as well as useful, and the outcome is amazing. I wouldn’t want to cut it!!” — Elaine

“I would lacquer it and tack it to my wall, if I ever make this! That’s what I would do. Isn’t it a piece of art?” — Angie

Magdalenas by Linda @ La Petite Panière

“I always, always admire Linda’s talent – bread-making, sweets, savoury dishes – you name it! These Magdalenas look really fluffy and delicious and so perfect for my morning tea. You know what? They are perfect anytime of the day.” — Jhuls

“These are like muffins and like madeleines. They’re muffin madeleines. Actually, they have a name, Magdalenas. Aren’t they pretty?” —Angie

Wow! I am so happy to be featured!! Thank you, Elaine and Angie! This means a lot to me. xx

Angie, time flies so fast. It’s really crazy how this is happening. So glad you enjoyed the summer still. Happy FF and I am ready for the Effie and Steffi show. 😀

I showed your post to my daughter and she wants me to make it this weekend for her. She’s the almost-vegetarian. She eats meat but not much. She enjoys veggies more than meat. So I’m hoping I’ll be a good mom this weekend and make it for her! Time flies, Jhuls. I blinked and my summer break was gone! 😀

Sorry to hear you are back to work and feeling tired, but hey, at least it’s Friday! Hopefully it will get better as you get back in the swing of things and hey, in the meantime there are at least lots of tasty features to drool over and I am sure there will be some more good recipes added this week too 🙂

I’m so glad it’s Friday and it’s actually a 3-day weekend, yay! Maybe I can now cook properly, like maybe I can make your Assam laksa for instance. I really want to try it.

Aww, thanks to Elaine, Jhuls and Angie for the feature. It was really odd how both Jhuls and I decided to feature Elaine/Selma’s recipe on the Lebanese Inspired dish. It truly does show that Selma’s spirit lives on and is always present at these special FF occasions. Thank you ladies, I do appreciate the feature. Good luck in the new school year Angie, I hope you have the day off today for the long weekend. Happy Labor Day ya’ll. 🙂

I hope to make at least the chickpeas and potatoes this weekend, maybe even the chicken too. I did make the chicken once but without harissa. Looking forward to trying it with all the recommended ingredients. And I know how you feel about missing Ben. It’s nice having someone around the house at all times even if you’re not exactly doing things together. Thats probably why I love road trips. Everybody is forced to be in one car together, lol!

I think Ben is at such a lovely age, he’s really good company, but then I think he’s been great at every age, so far! During holiday time he reverts to being ‘my Ben’, when school kicks in that usually changes a bit…we’ll see!

Hi Angie, I’ve finally made it to the party (after a long day at Legoland – don’t ask!). Wonderful features, those chickpeas are smiling at me from a distance as my family, unlike yours, will not give up on the meat. Although my son had a Vegetarian phase following a school trip to the local Hindu temple. Alsa, it only lasted a few hours. Once he realised that sausages are not a vegetable he gave up again …
I’ll better grab a drink and start partying!
    Happy FF!

Why are you complaining? I’d rather be at Legoland than at work 🙂 I wonder if it has a different theme over there.
Only my daughter is open to veggie eating. Not my son or the hubster! They want meat, meat, meat, and then some more meat!! It’s like so gross, right? Except more than half of the time I’m with them, lol. I don’t know where my daughter gets it from; she really loves vegetables!
