Hi, peeps! I don’t have time to talk today, I need to hustle!!
I’m just joking, okay?! Of course I always have time to talk to you. But I do need to hustle.
First I gotta give Skye a bath, then I gotta make brownies, then I gotta drive them brownies to the son.
Yup, I’m visiting the son this weekend, yippee! It’s Family Weekend at his school.
When I asked the son what he needed, he said, “Just bring me your brownies.” Gulp! I almost cried when I heard that. Turns out he likes and misses my brownies. I had no idea!!
Surprises do still happen even at this stage in their life, peeps. Just be prepared.
So that’s why I need to hustle today. I’m making brownies!

Brownies are always a great comfort food – enjoy your weekend Angie 🙂
Angie says
I wasn’t actually planning to make them but hey, he asked, so what can you do ? Have a wonderful weekend, Judi! Oh, when can you cohost again?
cookingwithauntjuju.com says
Any time – it’s a fun time of the year with so many Fall goodies. Just let me know…
cookingwithauntjuju.com says
Have you ever had problems with comments on other blogs not showing up? It’s happened with 3 people so far and I have always been able to comment before. They commented on my post this week…
Angie says
I actually have! My comments would just disappear! I think they may have gone to their Spam folder, and only they can retrieve them.
Angie says
If you can take either Oct 28 or Nov 4, I would appreciate it. I’m waiting for answers from other friends right now but as soon as I find out definitively which week is open, I will let you know. Thanks, Judi! ??
cookingwithauntjuju.com says
Either weekend is fine. I sent a note to WP about comments – and my problem is apparently fixed. I could hardly co-host and not be able to make comments. Glad you had a nice weekend with your son 🙂
nimmiafzal says
oh that’s a great news,Angie .. enjoy the Family Weekend with your son and lot many new friends over there..i hope your brownies would be a hit there too..Happy Fiesta 🙂
Angie says
Thanks, Nimmi! I’m making enough brownies to feed the entire dorm! ?? Coz who can resist brownies, right?! Have a great weekend and happy FF! ?
Suchitra says
You are getting very busy Angie!! You are sounding more and more like me now!! Am I rubbing off you?? Happy FF! Have a great weekend with your son!
Angie says
Thanks a lot, Su, you’re a great influence ? Lol, just kdding! But yes, it seems like I can’t get a break. I blame it all on Skye ?, she’s so needy. Oh well, she’s the baby and we love her.
Suchitra Kamath says
LOL Angie!! Babies and puppies do that to you! XOXO
Angie says
Lol ? ?
Josette@thebrookcook says
I hope my son misses my cooking one day. I’m not ready for him to leave me though! (He’s my 11-year old baby. 😉 ) Have fun visiting your son! <3
Thank you for the feature too! Woo hoo! Love "fancy" weeknight meals! 🙂
Angie says
Of course he will, you’re a great cook! Until he meets his wife, and if she’s a better cook, lol. Which happened to my husband, btw ? but don’t tell my MIL ?
Josette@thebrookcook says
FUNNY.
Lily says
Isn’t it great when your kids request your food. I think it’s one of the best feelings as a mom. Well, have a great weekend visiting your son:)
Angie says
He’s a picky eater so I was surprised actually but very pleased and flattered of course ? Although thinking back, he was always the one who ate most of the desserts I made, so maybe it shouldn’t surprise me. I know your kids will miss YOUR desserts ??
Michelle @ Giraffes Can Bake says
Thank you so much for the feature! I don’t have any new recipes up yet for this week, but I will totally share again next week! Can’t wait see what everyone else brought!
Have a great weekend with your son!
Angie says
No problem, you deserve the spotlight! You work so hard, and you love dogs, lol ??
Sandhya says
Have a great family weekend with your son, Angie! It sure is a surprise when they say they miss something we had no idea they loved so much when they were home:)
Angie says
Big surprise to me! I mean, he always liked all the desserts I made but I always thought he’s the type that prefers eating out. He seemed to prefer restaurant food vs homemade, maybe dorm life changes him ??
Sandhya says
Yes I found that with my own kids too. Once they were out of the house, they missed mom’s cooking a lot.
A nice back-handed compliment for us, right:) My daughter was in NYC with all the international cuisines around her but missed home made food and my son would say mom your chili is the best even after going to every place that said “world’s best chili”….ha ha….when they were home they ate like they were doing me a favor by eating my food 🙂
Angie says
My son acted the same way! My daughter, fortunately, is usually more appreciative. She’s a good girl ?
Maggie says
Hi Angie and everyone else! Thanks for hosting a great party and I’m glad to join once more. Sorry for being out of touch for the last couple of months. Work was hectic and lesson planning was taking over my free time – however, with lots more experience under my belt, I’ve finally found time to cook again!
Angie, I know I offered before and then wasn’t around but I am free — and not working for the next couple of weeks if you need someone to co-host.
Hope you’ve a wonderful time with your son. I’m sure he will scarf those brownies down!
Angie says
Welcome back, Maggie! Great to see you here! Hey, listen, I understand what hectic is, been there done that ? If you would take either Oct 28 or Nov 4, I would appreciate it. Let me know which week is better for you, pls. P.S. We had a wonderful weekend with the son!! I miss him already! ☹️️
Maggie says
I think Oct 28th would work! I should even have an entry ready for then, too. Let me know what you need me to do 🙂
Angie says
Maggie, I will let you know as soon as possible if you should cohost Oct 28 or Nov 4. I’m still waiting for another person to confirm. In the meantime, I can send you the cohosting guidelines. What’s your email address?
Maggie says
Spooninasaucepan@gmail.com
The thing is I may be gone the whole weekend of Nov 4th so if you need a weekend later in Nov or Dec I could do that too/instead
Angie says
Thanks for being patient with me, Maggie. I’ve moved things around and hallelujah, you now own the Oct 28 slot! I’m sending you the guidelines right now. Check your email!
Sadhna Grover says
Thanks for hosting the lovely party Angie.
Angie says
You’re welcome, Sadhna! ?
Sarah 'n Spice says
Can you bring me some of your brownies too 😉 Have a lovely weekend!
Angie says
Of course! Where do you live? Lol ??
Nicole @ yumsome says
Whenever I visit my son (31, with a baby of his own), he always asks me to bring baked goodies too! Must be a boy thing. Have a great time with yours, Angie!
Oh, and that puppy chow looks so good – great choice!
Angie says
I guess I should expect more baking every time I see him, haha… At least I’m prepared for it now that you’ve told me ?? That puppy chow has my name written all over it!
Zeba@Food For The Soul says
I am cooking for my son too this weekend and dropping it off at his school. Make me feel still needed 🙂 Excited to be co-hosting this week Angie!
Angie says
Oh, what did you make?? Did you take pictures? It feels good, doesn’t it, to be appreciated and needed? ?? Thanks for cohosting! ??
Zeba@Food For The Soul says
Roast chicken, chickpeas and biryani! Hopefully will last him (and roommates) a few days. Was too rushed for pictures. Were your brownies a hit?
Angie says
I didn’t take pictures either! I think the kids were grateful for the brownies ?
Ann GrubbsnCritters says
Awwww! It’s so nice isn’t it when your kid asks for the food you used to make! I know that feeling and my kids are still so young. I bet I’ll tear and get all choked up when they turn to teenagers! 😀
Hustle, hustle…have a good weekend and a wonderful time with your son, Angie!
Angie says
I didn’t think it would matter that much to me, but it really was gratifying to hear. And the icing on the cake? He seemed excited and happy to see us! It was a wonderful weekend, though I’m tired now, lol ??
Antonia says
Aww, how sweet..he loves your brownies 😀 Have a wonderful visit with your son Angie! I love the features this week!
Angie says
And he genuinely seemed very happy to see us! I guess he doesn’t take us for granted anymore. Dorm life does that to you, haha…
Jan says
Enjoy that visit with your son! And are you going to share your brownie recipe?? 🙂
Angie says
Of course I will, Jan! As soon as I have the energy to bake again ? The weekend took a toll on me. We did so much! I must be getting old ??
Margherita says
Happy family weekend Angie! Enjoy your son and a some brownies!
ps You never replied to my email, so just let me know if you need a co-host for the next up-coming parties!
Angie says
I’m so sorry! I didn’t see the email, but I do need a cohost for FF143 Oct 28 (my birthday week, btw, ahem) and I would appreciate it if you can take that slot. Pls let me know ??
Loretta says
I hope you are enjoying your weekend with your son Angie, I’m sure he appreciates all those specials gifts and care packages you bring to him. Such a lovely weekend too! Enjoy!
Angie says
We had too much fun, Loretta! Now I’m paying for it. I keep forgetting I’m not 30 anymore ?? I need a good night’s sleep!
petra08 says
hi Angie
Am arriving a bit late this time but hope you had a lovely family weekend with brownies on order! 🙂 xx

So glad you had a good time with your son Angie!! I am sure all the brownies are almost gone by now!!! Miss making them for my sons who are away but they still say that wherever they are, they still like only my brownies….
