Fiesta Friday #597

It’s crumpet-making day — every day.

Because that’s what everyone wants to eat — every day.

Two weeks after our trip to the UK ended, everyone has started asking for their daily crumpets, so I must oblige. Really, what everyone wants is the traditional English breakfast we were spoiled with while we were there, but that’s not something I can provide. I can’t spend every morning slaving away in the kitchen to make that kind of breakfast—it’s very involved.

However, crumpets I can do. They’re easy enough to make, especially the sourdough kind. They’re my favorite kind since it allows me to use my sourdough discard, which would otherwise be… well, discarded.

They’re almost too easy to make. All you need to do is add baking soda to your discard, and maybe a little salt, and that’s it! And you get this!

In no time. With minimal effort.

Maybe I do have time to make a full English breakfast, after all, but I’m not telling anyone 🤣

Because I’d rather be looking at these!

I don’t have a recipe posted yet, but if you have sourdough discard, it’s easy to make – just add 1 tsp baking soda to 2 cups of discard. You can add a pinch of salt, too. I may publish a recipe, eventually 😂
