Fiesta Friday #595

Hello from across the pond, everyone! Yes, my family and I are still in the UK, but we should be leaving for home tomorrow, barring any cancellations out of Heathrow.

We’ve been enjoying lovely weather – is that what Brits often say to one another? Or is that just a phrase I picked up from Jane Austen’s novels?

What do Brits typically say when they greet one another nowadays?

“Whassup?” “Sup?” “Hey, homie?”

I actually did hear some of these phrases while walking around, so they’re not that much different from Americans, really.

We do have a lot in common, including the food. There are, however, several quintessential local specialties that can only be enjoyed when traveling here.

Here are some of them.

Halloumi Fries – They seem to be ubiquitous in the UK

This is obviously far from an exhaustive list because I’ve only travelled in one section of the UK so far.

Next time I come here, I’ll try to explore other parts of the country, specifically the northern part.

Okay, then, Fiesta Friends, let’s party!

But First We Look At These:

Chicken Burgers with Bang-Bang Sauce

“This is going straight on my to-make list!” Jhuls

Japanese-Inspired Potato Salad

“My family’s favorite potato salad! I did a taste test and the clear winner was the Japanese-style Potato Salad.” — Angie

Pineapple Ginger Cookies

“YUM! They sound so scrumptious!” — Angie

Suspiritos – “Little Sigh” Meringue Treats

“Perfect little bites of sweetness!” — Jhuls
