Yesterday, Skye turned 16! Hurray, hurray!
We don’t have any information on her exact birthdate, so we designated August 22 as her unofficial birthday because we took her home on that date 8 years ago.
She was 8 years old at the time of her adoption and therefore was considered a senior dog.
We’ve been hoping and praying that she would outlive her breed’s average lifespan of 12 – 16 years. It looks like she’s doing it! Yay to Skye!

Happy birthday, Skye! She looks incredible for her age; I’m sure she will break the record. Ours are 8 and 6 years old, but a small white fur baby we had before lived up to 17 and a half. She was lost; she probably escaped from a gipsy family, so she came to our home as a puppy, alone, hungry, thirsty and in a bad state. And, of course, she stayed. Both of my kids were growing up with her; she was always, always, always beside them, like 24 hours a day. Now we have two, a mother and a daughter, who also came from a local shelter, but we still remember her often.
