Fiesta Friday #187

I survived my first week of back to work, peeps!

I didn’t fall asleep at work, not even once, even though my body had gotten used to taking morning naps for the last two months.

I think congratulations are in order, don’t you think?!

Now if I can survive this weekend, with the mountain of laundry and stuff just strewn all over the house, and the jungle in the backyard – all confronting me rudely in my face – I think I deserve a celebration!

That’s right, peeps, on Labor Day weekend, I’ll be laboring!

But I’ll be able to live vicariously through you. I know y’all will have the perfect Labor Day weekend full of good food and happy memories.

Now, Features!

aperol-spritz

Aperol Spritz with a Twist from Shinta @ Caramel Tinted Life

“In my opinion this is the perfect drink for this time of year. The cava and soda water give it a nice Summery sparkle and fizz while the color is just so perfect for the transition into Fall. It is a gorgeous looking drink, and I love anything with some sparkling wine!” — Alex

Caribbean Inspired Turkey Quinoa Patties and Peach Zucchini Slaw from Monika @ Everyday Healthy Recipes

“Monika took an awesome basket of ingredients and turned them into an even more awesome meal. I don’t know much about Caribbean cuisine but this post had me wanting to try some immediately!” — Alex

Beer and Cheese Biscuits from Antonia @ Zoale.com

“I’m a sucker for biscuits! Of any kind! But especially ones that have cheese melting and oozing out of them. And the kind that’s served with a puppy on the side :D” — Angie

No-Bake Tiramisu Cheesecake from Sarah @ Sarah’s Little Kitchen

“Sarah took two of the all time best desserts, put them together and it’s no-bake!  I also love how she used speculoos for the crust!” — Alex

Hi Angie! Have a good week back to work. My little baby started Kindergarten this week. I’m proud and upset our boys are growing so fast. Time flies! Good bye summer…I’ll miss you!

Thanks! And sorry to let you know that it’s only going downhill from now on. Just kidding 😀 But, yes, they grow up way too fast! I’m not too thrilled either that my son refuses to come home for the long weekend. He’s only been back to college for 2 weeks, but hey, long weekends means you come home, right?!

I am always so sad to see summer end 🙁 I have to labor on labor day too, but hoping to take at least a day off to discover a place in NH where you can hike through a sculpture park…and the town has a fabulous tea house and a lobster place…..now you know why I want to go there….work can wait 🙂

Tea house and lobster?! Is there anything better than that?! Now that you’ve mentioned it, I think maybe I’ll take a day off, too, and go for blue crabs in Maryland. Used to be an annual thing but didn’t get to do this summer. Laundry can wait… 😀

Yes, laundry can certainly wait…as we know it is not going anywhere…it will still be waiting after the blue crab meal!
I have heard so much about the wonderful crab places in Maryland. That annual tradition sounds like a keeper!

Hi there! I know I originally offered to co host Sept 15th, but could I push this back a week for logistical reasons? To the 22nd? My arm, btw, is doing better but while there are things I cannot do yet, using the computer isn’t one of those (I entrained myself to use the mouse left-handed years ago, for one).

That’s perfect actually; you’ll be cohosting with Shinta @ Caramel Tinted Life for the 22nd. For the 15th, we’ll just vote for features instead (no cohost). Thanks, Diann! And I had to chuckle about training yourself to use the mouse left handed ?
