Fiesta Friday #116

Blogging has become just a little bit more difficult for me. I find myself easily distracted these days.

Well, honestly speaking, I’m ALWAYS easily distracted to begin with. Maybe I suffer from ADD but was never diagnosed, who knows.

But really, I have no idea why…
All of a sudden, the house needs a-ttention.
And out of the blue, the garden is a-calling.
And the weeds ain’t a-waiting.

All my spare time is taken up by non-blogging activities. I think I need to double the amount of my spare time.

Anybody knows where I can buy extra spare time?! Call me!

But here comes another kind of distraction. The kind that’s most welcome. The kind that makes me happy. The kind that’s called Fiesta Friday! Hip, hip, hurray!

First, Features!

Butter Chicken Naan Pizza from Mara @ Put On Your Cake Pants

“How many times have you wasted the extra sauce that comes with your butter chicken, and tossed out that last piece of naan? Okay, scratch the naan part. The point is, how clever is this?! By using the naan bread as the base and the extra sauce from the butter chicken, Mara created a new wave pizza! It’s so creative and truly, that pizza is mouth-watering!” — Angie

Chicken Katsu Empanadas from Martin @ The Why Chef

“A beautiful empanada is good for any meal, whether it’s a main dish or an appetizer. Chef Martin delivered the perfectly browned empanada with a flavorful filling. ” — Julie

Salmon BLT Sandwiches from Debbie @ The Mountain Kitchen

“I love the addition of salmon to a classic BLT and the yogurt dill sauce replacing the mayo. This is a perfect summer sandwich!” — Ashley

Bombolini, Italian Beignet from Linda @ LaPetitiePaniere

“My fondest memories of New Orleans is of their Beignets. Linda brought us an amazing Italian Beignet that puts the others to shame! I would just love a couple of them with my morning coffee!” — Julie

Well, I can’t wait to see pictures of your garden later this season. I’m sure they’ll sneak their way into some future blog post. I simply love the background on Debbie’s photo from last week- need to go check out that post! Happy FF!

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 8:29 am

Yes, I’m sure they’ll surreptitiously make it into some post, lol. My apple trees are covered with blossoms! Covered! Never seen them like this before. Debbie’s sandwich sounds so good! Happy FF!

Well at least they are productive uses of your time – could be worse. Look forward to seeing pics in due course. At least you made it to FF though – hooray! I’ve been a bit distracted myself too with parents visiting the last 9 days – I managed to get a bit ahead on my blog stuff before they came but now I’m needing to catch up!

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 8:32 am

That’s what I keep telling myself every time I feel guilty about not posting. I do still cook and eat and take pictures, just finding it hard to put them all together! Usually I do that late at night, but now I fall asleep before late at night comes around since I’m tired from all the weeding and digging in the dirt 😀

      You’re welcome, Sherry! Happy FF!

Thank you so much for featuring the Salmon BLT Sandwiches!! It’s such a good sandwich I hope everyone who tries it will like it as much as we did. Perfect for a summer meal. 🙂

I hear you about needing more time and the ADD! It seems to be getting worse and worse everyday!

    Happy Fiesta Friday!!

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 8:35 am

You’re welcome! That’s one delicious sandwich! I’m going to try it. Maybe I’ll try grilling the salmon. My ADD does seem worse as I get older, lol! Happy FF!

      • Debbie Spivey says

        April 22, 2016 at 8:59 am

I was thinking I would grill the salmon next time too! Hope you enjoy it. Have a great weekend, Angie!

          You too, Debbie!

  5. Julie is Hostess At Heart says

    April 22, 2016 at 8:21 am

Ha ha ha…I have undiagnosed ADD too. I can’t walk into a room without redirecting my attention to something else (as I type I’m looking outside and thinking about everything that needs done).

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 8:37 am

LOL! I just went to see if my seeds have sprouted, in the middle of typing a sentence. Then I couldn’t remember what I was trying to say 😀

        haaaaa

  6. Ginger says

    April 22, 2016 at 8:27 am

At first I though ADD was just a play on acronyms, as in “I am ADDing far too many responsibilities to my already overly busy life” … which is how I feel, mostly! Have you ever come across a book called ‘Momo’ by Michael Ende? It’s a German YA novel where the notion of time appears in form of Grey Men who steal it from the people – excellent book!

Hope you get a bit of a break over the weekend!
    Ginger x

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 4:54 pm

Now I have to find that book. The title alone is already interesting. I hope they have it in English or else I might have to ask my son to translate. He takes German as his world language. Reminds me of the time we got lost in Germany, lol. Another story for another time ? Have a great weekend!

Glad you always have time to party, it is a priority though!

Loving these features, that butter chicken naan pizza!

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 4:58 pm

You got that right! Nothing stands in my way of an FF party! I’m still looking for the elusive spare time ??

  9. Antonia says

    April 22, 2016 at 9:12 am

If you find out how to get more spare time, let me know..lol 😀 Everything looks delicious!

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:00 pm

I’ll definitely share the secret to finding more spare time to anyone who would listen. If I ever figure it out, haha! ?

  10. Sandhya says

    April 22, 2016 at 9:21 am

    Angie,
I like Ginger’s interpretation of ADD as ADDing too many things to our already busy lives as bloggers:)
I have a huge problem with drooling when I come to Fiesta Friday:) Everything looks so scrumptious!

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:09 pm

I do, too! That must be the real meaning of ADD ? I know how you feel, Sandhya. And for me it’s worse since I usually only get to view these links late at night. Being hungry and craving a dozen different things at night is a huge problem!

  11. Jhuls says

    April 22, 2016 at 9:43 am

I am with you on the undiagnosed ADD. I think I have undiagnosed ADHD, too. 😀 Though your mind is too busy being busy, glad that you still manage to put up Fiesta Friday every week. Thanks, Angie! 🙂 I hope you have a lovely weekend! x

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:16 pm

Yes, I’ve always suspected ADHD might very well be involved with some of us, i.e., you, haha! But it can be advantageous, Jhuls. Maybe it makes you super productive ??

      • Jhuls says

        April 23, 2016 at 2:03 am

Productive and regret the exhaustion after. Hahaha

        • Angie says

  12. Melissa says

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:18 pm

No problem, Melissa! I’m happy to know you’re enjoying Fiesta Friday.

  13. Liz @ spades, spatulas, and spoons says

    April 22, 2016 at 10:58 am

Good morning Angie, I don’t really know how you do all this with a full time job as well. It is very impressive. ADD could be an advantage. This time of year always seems busy with weeds jumping up overnight (in just a week the ones that were ignored in my garden grew seed heads!), spring cleaning (does anyone still do that?), and all those little chores which were delightfully ignored while I was sitting by the fire and watching the rain.

Wonderful feature choices this week, I would definitely have a piece of that pizza…give me an empanada as well, and a salmon sandwich, and for dessert with strong coffee it would be a bombolini.

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:23 pm

Yes, I do do spring cleaning. Right now I’m going through my closets. So much junk! Does one person really need more than a few pairs of shoes?! Don’t answer that, haha! I agree this week’s features are pretty amazing. They all sound so delicious. But who’s going to cook them for us? ??

      • Liz @ spades, spatulas, and spoons says

        April 26, 2016 at 10:44 am

Wouldn’t that be wonderful? I’ve spoiled everyone in my family. The one piece of advice my mother gave me about retirement (my husband is retired but consults out of our home) is that you should never commit to lunch every day. I’ve followed that advice. Otherwise I would be spending the entire day in the kitchen (of course I don’t usually do breakfast either as I am happy with toast and fruit).

        Happy spring Angie.

  14. Sarah 'n Spice says

    April 22, 2016 at 11:46 am

I too, am always jumping from one task to another. In fact I just did it writing this comment haha! This weeks features are AMAZING! Happy FF and have a great weekend 🙂

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:25 pm

Lol, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! I wish I could take a bite of all the features, they’re all so tasty-looking! Happy FF & weekend to you, too, Sarah! ?

  15. The Hopeful Herbalist says

    April 22, 2016 at 1:38 pm

? think we are all in the same boat, so many tasks too little time! X

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:26 pm

I know! Spring is the busiest time of year for me, since I now also have to take care of the garden. But it’s all fun! ?

  16. apuginthekitchen says

    April 22, 2016 at 3:50 pm

All the features are exceptional. I have not really cooked, too much has gotten in the way these last couple of weeks. Will try for this week. Totally get it about the distractions etc…

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:30 pm

It’s like there’s no time to cook sometimes, right? And then when weekends come around, there are places to go to, kids’ activities, etc. I’m looking forward to Summer when I’m off ?

  17. petra08 says

    April 22, 2016 at 5:09 pm

Inspiration comes and goes and I agree it is easy to get distracted. I am happy it is Friday and party time, can’t get distracted from that! Gorgeous features! Happy weekend! x

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 5:33 pm

I am so happy to make it to Friday this week! I was so close to calling in sick a couple of times but managed to drag myself to work successfully. Now I need a reward, haha. Maybe my husband will take me out ?

I missed a couple of the above recipes and glad they were featured. I’m thinking about down sizing so all of a sudden there are tons of projects. Gardening is more relaxing for me – cooking I always have to clean up. Enjoy your weekend and don’t work too hard 🙂

    • Angie says

      April 22, 2016 at 7:17 pm

Downsizing sounds like a great idea to me; it’s never too early to start. I think it’s actually tiring to live with too many possessions. I agree about gardening and cooking, that’s why I’m not cooking tonight ? I’m going to follow your advice and plan to take it easy this weekend ?

oh boy do i know that thing about needing extra time, it’s not just the house but studying, then the dogs, the kids, trying to rehabilitate or keep on rehabilitating, crickey getting better is so b…..y time consuming, but I’m not complaining as it has gotten me to do load sof things I would never have done before. But yup if you find out how to make more time please tell me. I think earlier to bed and earlier to rise might help but getting up at 6am already kinda feels early enough and doesn’t help the old bags under the eyes lol. Ps I did a baking class Angie..woohooo I actually piped a semi decent cake! 😀

    • Angie says

      April 25, 2016 at 8:21 am

I usually get up at 7 and I feel that’s early! I don’t know how some people can wake up at 5, run to the gym and then go to work! But that’s what some of my colleagues tell me they do. Now I also need to buy extra energy, lol. Oh, that sounds exciting, the baking class!

      • eclecticoddsnsods says

        May 2, 2016 at 1:01 pm

my husband shouldn’t wake up at 5am he is completely mental. He falls asleep when he gtes home then gets up to watch tv, then goes to bed late but of course had a few hours before and wonders why he gets up early? duh…tsk tsk some people hey? 😀

Seems like I am rubbing on you Angie! You are beginning to sound like me!;) Just the other day I was joking to my friends that I need another 24 hours in my day! If your ever find a plcase that sells extra hours , please let me know too!;) Have a great weekend Angie! Love the features! Butter chicken naan pizza! Even us Indians couldn’t have come up with such brilliant ideas!

    • Angie says

      April 25, 2016 at 8:17 am

Still looking for that place, Suchi! But will definitely let you know if I ever find it, lol. The butter chicken naan pizza sounds so awesome, doesn’t it? I’m even thinking of making it on the grill. A pizza party is in order! ?

  22. Loretta says

    April 23, 2016 at 2:12 pm

I think we all suffer a bit from ADD don’t we? What with the warmer weather now, it is real hard to stay indoors when there’s 101 things to do outdoors. Thanks for keeping this party @ FF always going though. Great features!

    • Angie says

      April 25, 2016 at 8:13 am

FF comes first! No rain or snow can stop it. Wait, is that the post office slogan?! ? I just feel the happiest when I’m outdoors digging in the dirt. Something about gardening I find relaxing and therapeutic. Cooking can be fun, too, but then I have to clean up! ?

  23. Loretta says

    April 23, 2016 at 8:38 pm

Angie, just remembered that I had promised to co-host sometime in May. Do you have a date set aside yet? I need to get it on my calendar before it gets too busy.

    • Angie says

      April 25, 2016 at 8:05 am

I just looked at my May calendar and it’s a mess!! I have 3/4 possible cohosts listed per party. I think I’ll have to contact a few people before I can give you a date. Please keep reminding me!

      • Loretta says

        April 25, 2016 at 8:25 am

I am available some Fridays in June too if May doesn’t work out. Will let you have the dates if that would work better for you.

    • Angie says

      April 25, 2016 at 8:00 am

    April 25, 2016 at 7:56 pm

Thanks so much for featuring my naan pizzas! I’m so happy that they caught your eye. And if *only* there were a way to get more spare time…it seems like almost every night, I ask myself where the day went!

    • Angie says

      April 28, 2016 at 7:48 pm

Did you know I made butter chicken with extra sauce so I could make your pizza, except my clueless husband threw out the extra sauce!! He meant well; he was trying to clean up for me ??

      • CakePants says

        April 28, 2016 at 8:08 pm

Oh nooooo! That’s so sad, but it’s nice that he was trying to help out. I guess you’ll just have to make more butter chicken 😉
