Just about one more week, people, until school is out!
I have to keep telling myself to stay strong everyday. I find it hard to get up in the morning to go to work. The last days are the longest!
But once Summer break starts, I’ll be the happiest and freest person in the world.
But then I’ll have two hungry kids at home with me all the time. No more school lunches. I will have to actually feed them once in a while.
But that might be good for me. That’ll give me the opportunity to try your excellent recipes. Lord knows I’ve only saved a bajilion of them.
I just can’t help it. My Fiesta Friday friends are some of the best recipe makers out there!
Just look at these recipes I’ve saved from last week’s fiesta:
Chicken Tinga from Mollie @ The Frugal Hausfrau
Chinese Braised Beef from Jess @ Cooking Is My Sport
Peanut Butter Crunch Brownies from Julianna @ Foodie On Board
These are the kinds of food that I know my family will love, but if you’re Jhuls, though, you’d probably want to try this:
Arroz Caldo from Jasmine @ The Richmond Avenue
“I love anyone who makes Filipino foods and this Arroz Caldo from Jasmine is two thumbs up from me. I love that she didn’t make anything new to the dish and kept it as simple as the classic one. So delicious!” — Jhuls

My kids have another month and a half of school here in the UK, which is easier on the parents (especially if they have full time jobs and not much holiday time) but not so great for the kids. Looking forward to my co-hosting duties this week:)
Angie says
Is it a year-round school system? Some schools in California do that, too. I wouldn’t like that, though. I look forward to a long Summer break every year! Thanks for cohosting! Remember, both weeks! ??
Monika says
They get 5-6 weeks off in the summer and a week, sometimes 2, off every 6 weeks or so throughout the year. Not necessarily at the same time. So if you’ve got children in different schools it can be difficult.
TurksWhoEat says
One more week, you’re almost there! Hope the last week goes by quickly for you!
Angie says
Thanks! I hope so, too! Not sure how I can cope much longer ?
Jhuls says
I bet your list of recipes to try is beyond 5km long like mine, yeah?? And thanks for the mention☺️ Happy Fiesta Friday, Angie! I wish you have a relaxing weekend!?
Angie says
I was trying to print all these recipes, but after depleting the printer ink and paper supply, I decided to stop ? Thanks for helping, Jhuls! Have a great weekend! ?
Jhuls says
I did the same – I had multiple files separated into categories. I got crazy filing them, so I ended up with pinning and bookmarking. ? Thanks, Angie. Glad to help?

Elaine @ foodbod says
i am always amazed how early your summer break starts! But then I think you return to school earlier than us don’t you?
Like Monika said, we have six more weeks to go here…
Angie says
We used to return in September, but last year we went back in August. New superintendent, new rules and regulations. But the state mandates that public schools must have 187 school days.
Elaine @ foodbod says
I think it’s a similar amount here, just spread out differently..
Angie says
Actually 180 days for students and 187 for teachers/staff. Probably pretty standard for most places.
Jasmine S. says
One more week! You can do it!!! Thank you so much Angie and Jhuls, for featuring the Arroz Caldo on the blog! It totally made my day. 🙂 Happy Fiesta Friday!
Jhuls says
It’a been a while since I haven’t had Arroz Caldo.
Angie says
No problem, it was a pleasure to feature your wonderful recipe. Happy FF to you and have a fabulous weekend! ?
Sandhya says
Oh Angie, I can relate, I also teach 7th graders at Indian Sunday school, which has kept me crazy busy….or extra crazy 🙂
I agree about Fiesta Friday’s fabulous recipes. I want to make so many of them too.
Angie says
It takes a lot of patience to work with young people! And when they get loud, you can’t even hear yourself think ? But honestly I love working with them.
Sandhya says
I know exactly what you mean….and by the end of the year they are no longer scared of their teacher 🙂
My problem is that i can yell at my kids plenty….but not other people’s kids and they seem to know that 🙂 It is rewarding working with them though.

Dad Whats 4 Dinner says
My goodness how long does your school go? I think my kids have been out 3 weeks already and I am ready for them to go back. :)) Happy FF!!
Angie says
What?! They’ve been out for 3 weeks?! That’s impossible! Why don’t I move there ? But then again like you said you’ll have to take care of your kids much sooner ?
Jenny says
Hey Angie, I linked my recipe. I hope I did it right, this is a first for me. If not, please let me know. When exactly does your Friday start? As I am in Germany, I was unsure when I would be able to add my link. Happy to know when we can start linking and I am so excited to meet other food bloggers!
Angie says
I think you did everything right. Yay, I’m so glad you made it! The fiesta usually starts at 8:00 am EST. I think that’s 2 pm in Germany.
Now it’s time to mix and mingle! Happy Fiesta Friday! ?
Jenny says
Thanks, Angie, will keep that in mind.
FrugalHausfrau says
Angie, thanks for the feature!! I’m like ooh, that looks good big, lol! Seriously, I appreciate it! Happy FF and have a great weekend, and hold on Angie, just a few more days!!
Mollie
Angie says
No, thank YOU for the recipe. Who knows maybe I’ll get that instant pot this Summer. I know…just a few more days. I can do it! I think ?
FrugalHausfrau says
🙂
Ann GrubbsnCritters says
Yayyy! Summer! Though I’m not sure I like the longer days…nor the fact that we hv to pay more for day care because of the hols. ?
I agree that your Fiesta Friday friends do shars some of the best recipe makers out there, Angie! Happy weekend!
Angie says
That was my problem when my kids were younger. But now they pretty much take care of themselves. Well, not really…I still have to feed them and sometimes pick up after them!! When will they actually grow up? ?
Ann GrubbsnCritters says
Never! They’ll always be your babies and as much as you hate it, I’m sure you can never stop worrying about them. 🙂
Angie says
You’re so right! You’re so smart, Anne! ??
Ann GrubbsnCritters says
:p LOL. Have a good weekend, Angie!
chefjulianna says
OMG, Angie! We have to go another 3 weeks!! Can I move to your school??
Thanks so much for featuring my fused brownies! I always appreciate that!
Have a wonderful weekend. 😀
Angie says
That’s tough! I don’t know how anyone can still focus with the weather getting so warm. The kids pretty much ignore us by now. They’re done, and so am I ? Nice recipe, I plan to give it a try!
The Hungry Mum says
those brownies! We are still weeks away from school hols in Sydney but boy are they needed – everyone is shattered!
Angie says
WEEKS away?! That’s tough. Same situation here actually, everyone is pretty much done. I’m done! ?
