Everything is coming up roses! Literally!
There’s an area in my backyard that used to be my pride and joy. The Rose Garden aka The Fragrant Garden, was what I used to call it. It’s right next to the fence that borders the neighbor’s bamboo grove.
After battling the marauding bamboo for so many years, rather unsuccessfully, I sort of gave up on it. I haven’t even so much as pulled a weed, let alone watered or fertilized the area.
Well, what do you know? Roses like to be left alone, I guess. As you can see, they’ve managed to flourish without any intervention.
Anyway, I’ll be paying more attention to the area from now on, and hopefully after getting cleaned up, it can once again be a favorite space in the backyard.
Meanwhile, meal times around here have mostly become plant-based. The vegan daughter is back home for the summer, that’s why.
That’s vegan “meatloaf” there, her favorite celebratory meal. I made it as a reward for a semester done well. I quite enjoyed it myself.

I think so too, Roses should be left alone. I used to fertilize them like other flowers but then I saw lot of leaf growth then flowers :). Love your choice of Rose colors.
And, thanks for keeping up this linky party all these years.

Isn’t it funny how much more vigorous these plants grow the less we fuss over them 😄

Oh, bamboo is SUCH a pain! My mom’s neighbor in back also had it, and those roots burrow underground and come up everywhere! Almost as bad as mint, but at least mint serves a purpose and you can easily pull it up! Thanks for FIesta Friday, to start off our weekend!
Angie says
Oh, mint is nothing compared to bamboo! I ended up installing a plastic barrier next to the fence and the bamboo has managed to grow between the fence and the barrier, in the smallest sliver of soil!

Angie, do you also eat vegan when your daughter is there with you or you still eat meat? Just curious! 🙂 And the roses are beautiful. My late Mom would’ve been happy to see your garden. x
Angie says
Oh, I still eat and serve meat, or else my husband and son would revolt 😂 I just have to make sure there are vegan options for my daughter. Thanks for your sweet words about my garden and thanks for co-hosting ❤️
