Greetings from Madrid, Fiesta Friday friends!
I’ve been here for almost a week now. I think I’ve managed to stroll through all the barrios (neighborhoods) in the city!
Just kidding! But I swear I’ve never walked so much in my life!
So. The breaking news of the day is… the Spanish pilot union is on strike! That, coupled with the wildfire smoke engulfing the Northeast region, is concerning.
I hope I won’t get stranded at the airport which would be the worst ending to an otherwise wonderful trip.
My husband and I both vow we’ll make our way back to Spain since we didn’t get to see much of the country other than Madrid. We had planned day excursions to surrounding towns but the plans never materialized. Oh, well… ces’t la vie. Or should I say asi es la vida…
And that’s why another trip is warranted.
Overall we love what we’ve seen and eaten and experienced. It’s a beautiful place with warm, inviting, friendly, and accommodating people. Many of them speak English and don’t look down on you for not speaking their language. My rudimentary Spanish is enough to get us by.
The highlight of the trip, for me, was last night’s dinner and flamenco show. I mean, there were many enjoyable moments throughout the trip, but what we ate and saw last night was exceptional.
Here are some photos I’d like to share with you, from last night.
If you’re ever in Madrid, this place is a must-visit. It’s called Corral de la Moraria. The flamenco show was fabulous and the food was phenomenal.
Okey dokey, friends, I’d better make my last full day here worthwhile.
