I’m sure you’ve all heard the sad news about Anthony Bourdain by now. It’s incredibly shocking and heartbreaking to hear that he took his own life. I can’t wrap my head around it.
I love his show Parts Unknown. It’s my all-time favorite food show and I’ve learned a lot from watching it. Not only about food, but also about how people in different countries and cultures live and view life.
There’s nobody else on TV who can compel me to try something new the way Bourdain did.
He was one of the most genuine and honest voices in the food world. Even though I didn’t know him personally, nonetheless to me he came across as someone unique, courageous, inquisitive, and all-around good and kind person.
I feel the need to thank him for educating and inspiring me. Rest In Peace, Anthony Bourdain.
From last week’s fiesta:
“I thought these sound absolutely delicious, almost like vegan burgers with lots of vegetables and spices. Wonderful! All I need is a good dipping sauce!” — Angie
“I love the idea of Sheet Pan Burgers especially when you are feeding a huge crowd. And copycat big mac sauce? What’s more better than that?” — Jhuls
“Lately, I’ve been cooking more and more with eggplants and really like it. I love that this dip has roasted tomatoes; [roasting tomatoes makes] the house smell amazing! I’m going to try this dip.” — Lizet
“These sound absolutely scrumptious! I’ve done nutella-stuffed beignets but bananas weren’t involved. What a brilliant idea!” — Angie

A big loss to the world, Antonia. So so sad ? Only 3 more work days and then I’m free! That’s something to be happy about at least. Have a great weekend!
Of Goats and Greens says
Bourdain’s death was so surprising. Indeed a real loss. I loved his book, Kitchen Confidential, and while the subsequent books were not quite as good, they still held my interest. I have watched some of his programs when they appear on You Tube (I don’t have television access here yet), and I enjoyed his adventurousness in the food arena. Saddened.
Angie says
On TV he appeared to be having the time of his life, that’s why it was so surprising and unexpected. I don’t have any of his books, but I’ve tried some of his recipes shared online. They’re always very good!
Monika Dabrowski says

I was definitely shocked by Anthony Bourdain’s untimely departure. It has been a bad two weeks for some of us. RIP Anthony.
Angie says
I was too, and just before that it was Kate Spade’s though I didn’t know much about her. I found out we attended the same university. What’s going on with all the suicides? It’s very concerning.
Lizet Flores de Bowen says
Very sad news. He was here in Paraguay two years ago. We really enjoyed his program.
Thanks for featuring my donuts!
Angie says
Yes, I remember the Paraguay episode. He was researching his ancestors when he was there. All his shows were always enjoyable. Love your banana donuts!

Hi Angie
Bourdain was a tragic loss and he touched so many across the whole world with his personality, on real life and on TV as his persona came through so strongly. xx
Angie says
I agree. Such a compelling personality, but in the end he couldn’t overcome his inner demons I suppose. What a sad ending.
The Girl Next Door says
Bourdain’s death was certainly very sad. He had a huge number of foodie fans.
Thank you for featuring my recipe!
Angie says
Yes, very sad indeed. And you’re welcome!

I just voted. I have to be honest – I haven’t visited the guests, but I will make it up this weekend. Thanks, Angie. x

You didn’t visit the guests?! That’s not good. You must visit the guests, Jhuls. Just kidding. You do what you can. At least you voted ?
