We are remembering Selma. The one Fiesta Friday friend whom I called on most often to be my co-host. The one who had wisely guided and advised me on numerous issues arising from organizing a virtual party. She was my go-to person. She was my right-hand woman.
That role is now left bereft and quite likely irreplaceable. At least for a long time.
The very least we can do to honor her is to pause our regular Fiesta Friday and turn it into a special tribute to her. Next week, and I know in my heart Selma would have given her blessing, we will resume.
This Special Tribute, however, will be permanently open. Starting next week, there will be a link on the sidebar that will take you to it for whenever you are ready with your tribute. The full guidelines are in the previous post. Please do read them before linking up.

Link your tribute to Selma. Share with us how or what you do to honor her. Please read the guidelines.

I wish I could give you a real hug right now, Angie. We’re all going to miss Selma and her kind and encouraging words. She really was a diva, wasn’t she?
Jhuls says
She really was. Thanks for being part of the tribute, Effie. xx
Angie says
A sparkling diva, as she aptly called herself. Her personality said it all. A remarkable individual!
Jhuls says
Very beautiful poem, Angie! I don’t know what to say more than that I (and we all do) miss Selma! Thanks for having Fiesta Friday. Hugs!
Angie says
One of my favorite, Jhuls. It’s comforting to read. Hugs to you, too, Bubbles (to borrow Selma’s nickname for you).
Jhuls says
Awwww!!! I am in tears now! I missed that name. :'(
Angie says
We can still call you that if you like XO
Jhuls says
Of course, I’d love that, Angie!!
Angie says
Oh, ok, Bubbles, have a wonderful Eid. Is it today or tomorrow?
Jhuls says
It’s today, Angie. Thanks for the greetings. xx I love the name Bubbles.

Beautiful poem Angie xx I feel and share your pain xx
Angie says
It’s one of my favorite, I find it comforting. It was part of a sermon, actually. It makes it easier that you understand how I feel, Elaine. XOXO

I really do xxx

Thank you, Sarah, it’s very much appreciated. XOXO

What a beautiful poem even though the author never meant for it to be anything but a sermon. Good choice Angie to remember someone like Selma . Funny about Jhuls being called “Bubbles” – that was a nickname I had when I was younger but for other reasons I am sure 🙂
Angie says
Thanks, Judi. Now I’m trying to figure out the reasons behind your childhood nickname 😀

I know Selma was a very active member here and this is a heartrending news. As a community on Fiesta Friday I believe, we are all linked to each other by an invisible thread. After reading about her, I feel the pain strongly. Angie, your tribute is so beautiful and it is comforting us!
Angie says
Well said, Sridevi. I’m so glad the tribute offers some comfort to you. And you being here offers us much comfort, too. Thanks so much. XOXO
Suchitra says
This was a wonderful event you organized Angie. This is the least we can do for all that she did for us. May her soul rest in peace. She will forever be amidst us in Fiesta Friday.
Angie says
I second that, Su. Selma lives on in our hearts and I know many will continue to find inspiration from her blog. Thanks for being here. XOXO

A beautiful poem and a lovely tribute, Angie.
I really wanted to have my post for Selma ready by Friday but I’ve been feeling a bit on the poorly side and I really wanted to be able to give her 100%. I’m going to be reading all the posts submitted though, of course.
Fiesta Friday won’t be the same without her, but I think you’re right, she would definitely want us to honor her by keeping it going as normal next week. I’d like to think she’ll be joining us each week too 🙂
Angie says
Aaw…that’s so nice what you said about Selma joining us each week. What a comforting thought. Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. Hopefully you’ll feel better soon. And then I’m going to ask you to co-host. I always have an ulterior motive, haha… No pressure, only when you can. The tribute is permanently open, btw.
Gather and Graze says
Angie, this tribute is a really beautiful way of honouring Selma and a lovely idea to leave it open for others to add to in the future. I was so saddened and shocked to hear that Selma had recently passed away, her legacy of food and friendship will live on in the blogging world for many, many years to come. M.xx
Angie says
Thanks, Margot. She was an extraordinary person. Hard to believe there won’t be anymore comments and emails from her. That’s really sad 🙁
Lili says
Sorry I’ve been a bit late contributing Angie and thank you for the lovely tribute and organising this event, along with the Sue, Elaine and Jhuls, for Selma. Reading how special she was for many people is very moving. Hugs to everyone. Lili x
Angie says
No problem at all, Lili. We appreciate that you’re here, truly. Many held Selma in high regard; she was very special. XOXO

Your poem is beautiful. It makes me so sad to read all the tributes and it shows how many lives she touched! I am so glad the blogging community is coming together, Selma will always be with us! 🙂 x
Angie says
Thanks, Petra. She was one of a kind. The tributes are all very moving, including yours. XOXO

I was so sorry to hear of her passing and you’ve built a wonderful tribute here – Selma left behind a legacy with her blog.
Angie says
She did! Thank goodness! I find it inspirational and informative.

This was why I tried to email you xxx

I’m coming to this post very late after spending the past six months relocating. I am so sorry to read of Selma’s passing. She was such a supportive and special person and brought so much spirit to Fiesta Fridays. My hearts go out to you, Angie, and her friends and her family. She will surely be missed. ~
Angie says
Hi, Sheri! So nice to hear from you and I’m sorry to have given you such sad news right up front the minute you came to visit here. But, yes, it’s a tremendous loss for our FF family. Selma was instrumental in making Fiesta Friday run as well as it could be. I hope you’ll come to the big 100th bash. It’s this Friday! 🙂
Sheri Fox says
Congratulations and thank you for the invitation! I would love to bring a sing-along I’m just finishing. Inedible and possibly very bad but hopefully people will join in and it will help create a nice festive atmosphere. So sorry again about Selma, but I look forward to seeing my FF friends again 🙂
Maggie says
Jhuls’ told me about this tribute to Selma and, while I am not part of Fiesta Friday, I do have a contribution that I’d like to share. I adapted her Kale and Chickpea soup. May I link it to join the other contributions
Angie says
Of course! Anybody can join Fiesta Friday. 🙂
Maggie says
Thanks, Angie! I’ve added it above.
