It’s been a tough week for our family – Skye underwent cataract surgery on Tuesday.
At 17 years old, Skye is a senior dog gradually losing her vision. We believed that restoring her sight would greatly enhance her quality of life, which led us to proceed with the surgery.
Given her age, any anesthesia-related procedure involves some risks. However, she is in excellent health, and both her veterinarian and ophthalmologist approved the operation.
Fortunately, she handled the surgery pretty well. There was a slight hiccup during the procedure but an anesthesiologist was present throughout, and they were able to fix it, so we are very thankful for that.
Her outlook is quite positive, although there’s a small chance it might not succeed, and she may not regain her sight.
We remain hopeful, wishing for a successful outcome so that once she recovers – in about two weeks – Skye can see clearly again and navigate without bumping into things.
