Helllooo… Excuse me while I roll myself off the bed…in slo-mo style…
Anybody else still alive??
Yah…I’m barely myself…
I did all the cooking. ALL!
Then I did the eating. Then I did the cleaning.
I had some help with the last two, though more on the eating than the cleaning. That’s how it always is with Thanksgiving at casa de Angie. I’m the ONE cook and general cleaner. Still, I shouldn’t complain. I have a lot to be thankful for.
I’m healthy…
I’m happy…
I have a loving family…
I’m not hungry…
And I’m not yet eighty…
Okay, nothing wrong with being eighty… As long as you’re healthy…happy…not hungry…and have a loving family…

The Ultimate Sandwich from Matt @RoughEats
“This is my kind of sandwich! First of all I like the ratio of meat to bread and Matt took a recipe from his roots and recreated it here with a cure, a rub and then smoking the meat to make a sandwich so good I just want to reach out and grab a piece. This is delicious comfort food!” — Petra
Lamb Shanks with Harissa, Saffron and Apricots from Zeba @ Food For The Soul
“This dish looks mouth-watering. I love the sound of lamb with apricots, it is one of those combinations that I haven’t tried but makes so much sense when I read it. I can almost smell the lamb cooking with the delicious spices as I am reading the recipe!” — Petra

Hi Angie, what a feast you cooked! It looks amazing! Lucky family and I agree, sometimes it is good to stop and have a think about all that we have to be grateful for! Saying that, Happy Fiesta Friday, am so pleased I am not last again. Have a great weekend! x 🙂
Angie says
It was a lot of food!! But almost all gone now, amazing! Yup, I’m thankful everybody including myself is happy and healthy. This is a wonderful family time, lots of laughter. What more can you ask, right?! Great weekend, Petra! ?

Thanks, Petra! ?

Hi, the turkey looks magnificent, it must have been a heck of a feast! I am also the ONE cook and cleaner etc but am not complaining (too much) for similar reasons – healthy, loving family, not too old… The featured recipes look great, must get a closer look:)
Angie says
This year’s turkey was declared the best! And I went with minimal seasoning. I guess my family likes their turkey plain ? We have lots to be thankful for, don’t we? Not too old is definitely one of them! ?
Teagan Geneviene says
I hope you get a post-Thanksgiving day of rest, Angie. I’m sure everything was delicious. Hugs.
Angie says
I was even able to nap a little last night while the maniacs aka all the college-aged nephews had seconds or thirds! Now that’s reason to be thankful for ? Have a great weekend, Teagan!
Elaine @ foodbod says

We’re having so much fun! It’s always exciting when the youngsters get together and we “oldies” get to listen ?

Andy Oldham says
I can’t wait for next Thanksgiving! I’ll be there two days early and will even help you clean up! Lolol
Angie says
Is that a promise?! I can use the help, Andy, lol ?
Andy Oldham says
I wish it could be but there is so much family I’d have to rent a bus! Lol ? just send a chocolate pie. That’s my favorite and no one ever bakes one?
Angie says
Too funny! ??
Antonia says
Your Thanksgiving spread looks amazing Angie! It sounds like you had a wonderful day. Enjoy some rest 😀 Happy Fiesta Friday!

FrugalHausfrau says
Good morning, Angie! I’m glad you guys liked the pie! And why oh why did I think it was a good idea to roll out of bed and step on the scale this morning. Ugh!! No pie for me today.
Angie says
Lol!! I did sneak in a slice of pie this morning with my coffee. But no more, that’s it!! Your pie is to die for, omg!
FrugalHausfrau says
🙂 🙂 🙂 For all that fabulousness, I’ll just take a slice of my plain old pumpkin pie. Still love it the best!! 🙂 I mean if I were having any. Must. Stay. Strong. Your spread looks amazing!
Angie says
I know what you mean. Same thing with my family. In the end they prefer good old-fashioned plain dishes. But as a cook, I feel the need to vary and experiment. So I’ll continue! ?

Two days of cooking and a recliner…life is good. That turkey looked gorgeous Angie!
Angie says
Lol, Julie! I need more than a recliner! Though I’ve streamlined my Thanksgiving menu somewhat, keeping only dishes people actually want to eat and mostly they want the same things every year! I guess my family is stubborn ?Don’t they know I have a blog?! ?
chefjulianna says
Wow, Angie, what a FEAST! Hopefully you had lots of leftovers so that you don’t have to cook or clean for the next week! Happy Thanks giving and Happy Fiesta Friday to you!! 😀
Angie says
Not much leftover unfortunately, but enough for a sandwich or two. That’s all the hubs cares about, lol. Thanks for cohosting, Julianna! ?
Zeba@Food For The Soul says
Had a slow start this morning but a smile remembering last night dinner with the family…turkey, leg of lamb, potato and zucchini soup, apple pie made by teenage niece…yummm! Thanks so much for the feature, truly honored 🙂
Angie says
Family times are the best times, right? Especially when the youngsters start to get involved and see themselves as our peers. Things get very interesting, lol. Leg of lamb for Thanksgiving sounds so special, Zeba! ?

Happy belated Thanksgiving Angie – your dinner looks stunning. Gorgeous photograph. And I had to laugh at your commentary – you’re not hungry and you’re not yet 80. Amen to that! And thanks for hosting Fiesta Friday. xox
Angie says
Thanks, Lindy! I’m glad you enjoyed the little humor. I try my best to make people laugh ? Enjoy Fiesta Friday, girlfriend! ?

Sorry for being late to the party! Between Thanksgiving and the fact I’ve been hosting a blogging event this week it kind of passed me by until now. Your spread looks amazing Angie, glad you had a good Thanksgiving. And I have a very similar role in our house too 🙂
Angie says
I think Julie mentioned your blogging event. Wish I had known earlier. Probably my fault for not paying close attention. So many things going on at this time of year! I’m also supposed to be doing a Fiesta Friday challenge but haven’t even come up with a theme! Oh, brother! I’m glad you made it, though. Wouldn’t be the same without you, Caroline! ?
Arl's World says
Hi Angie! It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. What a delicious looking turkey spread! The pies always get me …I just can’t stop eating them. Now to be good until Christmas! 🙂
Angie says
Same here, Arlene! The pies are my #1 enemy, or friend depending how you look at it ?? I’m planning to lose a few pounds so I can gain them back at Christmas, lol ?
Marguerite says
That feast looks like an absolute FIESTA! I wish I had the courage to cook an entire bird. I’m super ashamed to admit I never have, we always go over to my brother in laws house for Thanksgiving. Talk about being thankful 😉 Counting down the days till Christmas x
Angie says
Thanks, Marguerite! Yah, I hear you about the whole entire turkey thing. It felt like wrestling a beast! I keep telling myself it’s only once a year… Besides, there’s a lot of power in being the cook. I can pretty much boss everyone around, lol ? On the other hand, you’re pretty lucky your BIL takes care of everything!
Margherita Romagnoli says
Hey Angie! I don’t see the button to upload my recipe…. There is something wrong or it is just me having problem?
Angie says
You’re on last week’s FF here, Margy. We’re now on #148. The button should be there ?
Jhuls says
Oohhh! Angie, that photo of your made my mouth water! 😀 Absolutely stunning!
